Maddie & Tae<\/strong><\/a> are going their separate ways professionally. <\/p>\n

The music duo \u2013 Maddie Font<\/strong><\/a> and Taylor Kerr<\/strong><\/a> \u2013 of over 10 years announced this week that they are splitting up and reveal what\u2019s next for them. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re leaving this so open-ended because, you know, we might make another record one day,\u201d Maddie<\/strong> tells People<\/a><\/em>. \u201cWe might go do some tour dates one day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut just in this season,\u201d she continued. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t feel aligned for us to do it together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maddie<\/strong> is preparing for a solo career while Taylor<\/strong> is going to focus more on her family \u2013 she is married to songwriter Josh Kerr<\/strong><\/a> and they have two kids together, daughter Leighton<\/strong>, almost 4, and son Chapel<\/strong>, 1.<\/p>\n

The two singers also note that this isn\u2019t a permanent breakup and their personal relationship remains fully intact. <\/p>\n

\u201cEven though we\u2019re not gonna go on this journey as Maddie & Tae<\/strong> together, we\u2019re still walking and doing life together outside of it,\u201d Maddie<\/strong> said. \u201cAnd I think I\u2019m really excited to just be best friends and nurture our friendship and not have to worry as much about the work and still get to raise our babies together. None of that changes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Taylor<\/strong> also opened up about how difficult this decision was to make. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been such a hard, hard \u2014 honestly, heartbreaking \u2014 decision,\u201d she says. \u201cThis was the only dream I\u2019ve ever had since I exited the womb. I had a very specific vision of creating music and singing music. When we met at 15, that\u2019s what we set out to do, and we\u2019re both just so grateful that we\u2019ve had the journey that we\u2019ve had. This career has been everything we\u2019ve ever wanted.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maddie & Tae first met in 2010 at a showcase when they went to the same vocal coach. They then started performing together, and in 2014, signed their first record deal as a duo. <\/p>\n
