NCIS: Origins<\/em>\u2018<\/a> season 2 fall finale pulled out all the stops with a massive cliffhanger featuring a deadly explosion \u2014 and a main character\u2019s surprise wedding.<\/p>\n

During the Tuesday, December 9, episode of the hit CBS series, a scene at the end of the episode showed someone Franks (Kyle Schmid<\/strong>) crossed paths with go into a movie theater. The man exited the establishment moments before a bomb went off.<\/p>\n

The prequel series also touched on Gibbs (Austin Stowell<\/strong>) questioning his future with Diane (Kathleen Kenny<\/strong>)<\/a> after she got an offer to work in Los Angeles. He remained unsure about whether they could make things work but ultimately he told Diane he wanted to give it a try.<\/p>\n

As the episode came to an end, Gibbs and Diane got drunk, which led to them eloping in Las Vegas. This will likely come as a shock to fans who were rooting for Gibbs and his coworker Lala (Mariel Molino<\/strong>) to make their relationship work.<\/a><\/p>\n

Despite the obvious chemistry between the coworkers, fans who are familiar with Mark Harmon\u2019s version of Gibbs from the original NCIS<\/em> are aware he had a total of four wives \u2014 Shannon, Diane, Rebecca and Stephanie \u2014 and the prequel planned to stick to canon.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe always approach these things \u2014 as they seem like huge challenges \u2014 how we\u2019re going to write that into the tapestry of our story,\u201d creator Gina Lucita Monreal told Us Weekly<\/em> in April. \u201cBut it always ends up being a plus somehow in the end figuring out how to weave these stories together. So we\u2019re really excited to delve into this one as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

Molino, 32, meanwhile, recently teased how Gibbs and Lala\u2019s relationship could continue to be explored despite him meeting his next wife.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cEven though we can\u2019t play out this love, we can play out the subtleties of wanting someone and how that affects you in every aspect of your life, through work, in your career [and] in your personal life,\u201d Molino shared with Us in October. \u201cYou just want to prove them wrong or make them proud.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued: \u201cThe writers are doing the best possible scenario of this and our relationship. \u2026 As much as he has incredible feelings for Lala, he\u2019s trying to protect his heart from the thought of losing her again. It\u2019s [him] just not wanting to open up his heart again just to have it ripped out again.\u201d<\/p>\n

When season 1 originally premiered in November 2024, Stowell, 40, spoke to Us<\/em> about the chances of the fan-favorite couple finding their way to each other.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThere\u2019s nothing like a good love story on TV \u2014 even if it doesn\u2019t end up the way that fans want. For years, there have been couples who have garnered huge fan bases, but still don\u2019t end up together like Dawson\u2019s Creek\u2019s Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek) and Joey Potter (Katie Holmes). \u201cAt this point, we\u2019re still just months after Gibbs lost his wife and child. Even if those emotions are creeping in, he probably is quieting them and feeling as if he shouldn\u2019t have those feelings,\u201d Stowell explained at the time. \u201cIf his wife and daughter were still alive, he would be with them. It is only because of their death \u2014 their murder \u2014 that he blames himself for that he\u2019s even in the position and interacting with the people he\u2019s with.\u201d<\/p>\n
