And while they\u2019re not calling it a breakup, the duo is officially stepping back from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/maddieandtae\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maddie &amp; Tae<\/a> as they pursue different paths in their personal lives.<\/p>\n<p>The longtime partners revealed the news in an exclusive interview with <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/country-duo-maddie-and-tae-announce-split-exclusive-11861328\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>People Magazine<\/em><\/a> posted on December 8, explaining that their decision comes after months of emotional conversations. \u201cWe\u2019re leaving this so open-ended because, you know, we might make another record one day,\u201d Font, 30, shared. \u201cWe might go do some tour dates one day.\u201d Kerr echoed the sentiment, adding a simple, \u201cAbsolutely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, they admit the timing just isn\u2019t right to continue as a duo. Font is gearing up for her first solo chapter while juggling life with husband <strong>Jonah<\/strong> and their 2-year-old son, Forrest. Kerr, meanwhile, is pressing pause on her music career entirely to focus on her growing family \u2014 daughter Leighton, almost 4, and 1-year-old son Chapel \u2014 with husband <strong>Josh Kerr<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut just in this season,\u201d Font said, \u201cit doesn\u2019t feel aligned for us to do it together.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Of course, fans immediately wondered what this means for their relationship. A breakup? A hiatus? Something in between? According to the women, the label doesn\u2019t matter \u2014 because what they have offstage isn\u2019t changing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though we\u2019re not gonna go on this journey as Maddie &amp; Tae together, we\u2019re still walking and doing life together outside of it,\u201d Font insisted. Their chemistry was instant, both musically and personally, which led to hits like \u201cGirl in a Country Song\u201d and fan-favorite \u201cDie From a Broken Heart.\u201d In the years since, they\u2019ve racked up major awards, headlined tours and most recently checked off a major bucket-list moment: performing at Nashville\u2019s iconic Ryman Auditorium.<\/p>\n<p>That history is one of the reasons they refuse to use the word \u201cbreakup.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt sounds so dramatic, and we don\u2019t want it to feel that way,\u201d Font said. \u201cI know the world\u2019s probably ready for us to hate each other\u2026 And that\u2019s why we want to do it this way, to show what it looks like to be two strong, independent, loving women that\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026 are embarking on separate journeys,\u201d Kerr finished for her best friend. \u201cBut still together.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p><script async defer src=\"https:\/\/platform.instagram.com\/en_US\/embeds.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/posts\/maddie-tae-split-after-15-years-why-the-country-duo-is-going-separate-ways\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After 15 years of making music together, country duo Maddie Marlow Font and Tae Dye Kerr are turning the page on a new chapter \u2014 separately.
