At The Hollywood Reporter<\/em>\u2018s Women in Entertainment 2025 Gala, <\/span>Robert Downey Jr.<\/b> had the crowd cracking up as he spoke about his friend and former <\/span>Iron Man<\/span><\/i> co-star <\/span>Gwyneth Paltrow<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n Downey Jr. was tasked with introducing Paltrow before she was honored with the Sherry Lansing<\/strong> Leadership Award at the December 3 event.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s reviled\u2026 no, I\u2019m sorry, someone just ambled by the teleprompter\u2026 Revered! Sorry, sh**\u2026 uh, no I\u2019m wrong, reviled and revered, oh, you know what? Yeah, maybe it\u2019s both,\u201d Downey Jr. said to kick off his speech.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He then continued roasting Paltrow about a number of other things, including being confused by the Marvel Universe, despite being a part of seven movies within the franchise.<\/span><\/p>\n Downey Jr. then reminisced about when he first started working with Paltrow on the <\/span>Iron Man<\/span><\/i> movie trilogy before getting in some <\/span>more funny jabs<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cShe then, while juggling kids, career, and somewhat accurate but cruel misconceptions, introduced the planet to the possibility of <\/span>\u2018conscious uncoupling,\u2019<\/span><\/a> you remember that?\u201d Downey Jr. said, poking fun at Paltrow\u2019s separation from her now-ex-husband <\/span>Chris Martin<\/b> as the crowd laughed. \u201cWhich Hollywood has done a great job not emulating. The exceptions prove the rule, you know who you are.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He then went on to do a rapid-fire summary of the past 10 years of her career, including the success of <\/span>Goop<\/span><\/a>, her marriage to <\/span>Brad Falchuk<\/b>, and her return to acting this year in the soon-to-be-released movie <\/span>Marty Supreme<\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt is so miraculous, if you think about it. It is so unprecedented, so sublimely\u2026 annoying!\u201d he joked of her career successes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n He then brought the speech home by pretending to get choked up as he spoke about her popular lawsuit.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m gonna get emotional\u2026 We have here a woman that is willing to go to trial, confronting her retired optometrist accuser, regarding an alleged injury on a Deer Valley ski resort slope, and comport herself so honorably that a musical theater production is born to commemorate her moral strength and intestinal fortitude, not to mention her impeccably tasteful civil-suit-chic yet practical courtroom attire!\u201d Downey Jr. said before the camera panned to Paltrow herself, who was laughing so hard she was tearing up.<\/span><\/p>\n
