Jessie J says her breast cancer could return<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old singer underwent a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer in June but accepts that she isn’t completely in the clear.<\/p>\n
Jessie told ABC News: “I’ve been really lucky, super lucky, to find it so early.<\/p>\n
“It wasn’t invasive, thank god. I know there’s a chance it could come back but until then we’re living life.”<\/p>\n
The Price Tag hitmaker provided an insight into the heartbreaking conversation she had with her mother when she informed her of the diagnosis.<\/p>\n
\nJessie – who has son Skye, two, with her basketball player partner Chanan Colman – said: “I remember calling my mum first and I said, ‘Well I can’t die because I have Skye.’<\/p>\n
\n“He’s just honestly the love of my life. I went through so many journeys to find him and I’m just so grateful that he held on to me.”<\/p>\n
\nThe Domino singer stressed that she wasn’t “scared” after being diagnosed.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “When I got diagnosed with breast cancer, I wasn’t scared. I felt a little bit out of control. But I am a sharer, and I wasn’t gonna sit at home and cry about it.”<\/p>\n
\nJessie continued: “It’s just given me a deeper perspective, and I’m really riding that wave of living in the moment and enjoying life.” <\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, the singer recently compared her cancer surgery to something out of the dystopian Netflix series Black Mirror as she was put under general anaesthetic.<\/p>\n
\nJessie told the Guardian newspaper: “I hate being put under. They walk you down. You know when you have emergency surgery you roll down in a bed, but this time I just strolled down with a gown on and my bum hanging out. You feel like you\u2019re in an episode of Black Mirror…<\/p>\n
\n“Cancer sucks, man, but you know what? Thank f*** I found it early. I had the mastectomy four months ago and my right breast now looks like a grapefruit under a tight bedsheet… <\/p>\n
\n“[They are now] different sizes. They didn\u2019t do an implant as small as my original. How rude! I thought, no need to bully me, I\u2019m already having a rough time.<\/p>\n
\n“So rude! It\u2019s funny because I said I\u2019d never get my boobs done because I\u2019ve got OCD, and I know they\u2019d never be perfect. Cancer ruined that plan.”<\/p>\n
