{"id":209503,"date":"2025-12-06T07:01:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T07:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/06\/duchess-meghan-reaches-out-to-ailing-father\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T07:01:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T07:01:11","slug":"duchess-meghan-reaches-out-to-ailing-father","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/06\/duchess-meghan-reaches-out-to-ailing-father\/","title":{"rendered":"Duchess Meghan reaches out to ailing father"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"byline\">\n<p>        <time itemprop=\"datePublished\" content=\"2025-12-06\" datetime=\"1765004471\" pubdate=\"\">6 December 2025<\/time>\n    <\/p>\n<p>Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, has reached out to her father following his emergency leg amputation.<\/p>\n<p>                            <\/p>\n<p class=\"image-caption landscape\">Duchess Meghan reaches out to ailing father<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Markle, 81. underwent a three-hour operation to remove his left foot and lower leg earlier this week, after the limb went black as a blood clot stopped blood circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Although Meghan, 44, has been estranged from her retired TV lighting director father \u2013 who now lives in the Philippines \u2013 since her wedding to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.femalefirst.co.uk\/prince-harry\/\" class=\"exposure-link \" data-linktrack=\"LinkTracker,articleExposure,prince-harry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Prince Harry<\/a> in 2018, she reached out after hearing about his surgery.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson for the Duchess of Sussex told Us Weekly: \u201cI can confirm she has reached out to her father.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Thomas\u2019 son Thomas Jr., 59, previously told the Daily Mail newspaper: &#8220;My dad is being very brave. His foot turned blue and then black. It happened very quickly. I took him to a local hospital, and they did some scans and an ultrasound and said the leg had to be amputated.<\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;There was no option. I was told the leg had to be removed, and it was a case of life or death.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\nThomas &#8211; who is &#8220;stable&#8221; in the intensive care unit following the &#8220;life-threatening emergency&#8221; &#8211; also needs to have a blood clot in his left thigh removed.<\/p>\n<p>\nAnd his son said doctors remain &#8220;extremely concerned&#8221; for his dad&#8217;s welfare.<\/p>\n<p>\nThomas Jr. added: &#8220;One of his doctors said the next two or three days are critical. His left leg has been removed below the knee. They were worried about infection setting in &#8211; sepsis or gangrene. The flesh was black and dying.
