Rachel Lindsay<\/b> is sharing new insight into the end of her marriage to <\/span>Bryan Abasolo<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n During the December 2 episode of the <\/span>Lovett or Leave It<\/span><\/i> podcast<\/span><\/a>, the former <\/span>Bachelorette<\/span><\/i> spoke to Obama speechwriter <\/span>Jon Levett<\/b> about what ultimately led to their split.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe reasons we broke up \u2014 I saw all the things before, but I wanted to have kids and I wanted to be married and I wanted to be loved. It\u2019s like sad, it\u2019s kind of sad,\u201d she admitted.<\/span><\/p>\n Lindsay added that her experience mirrors what she\u2019s seen among many women around her.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI know a lot of women who put their careers first and they look up one day and they want other things for themselves and they don\u2019t have them. And they kind of settle or compromise in ways that they wouldn\u2019t normally do because of their desires.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Lindsay and Abasolo got engaged on her season of <\/span>The Bachelorette<\/span><\/i> in 2017 and tied the knot in August of 2019.<\/span><\/p>\n The pair\u2019s <\/span>divorce was finalized<\/span><\/a> on January 7, 2024. According to the settlement, Lindsay will pay the chiropractor, 44, a $500,000 equalization payment. He will keep their Miami condo and 2021 Honda Accord, while Lindsay takes ownership of their Los Angeles home and her 2023 Porsche Macan.<\/span><\/p>\n On the January 10 episode of her <\/span>Higher Learning<\/span><\/i> podcast<\/span><\/a>, Lindsay revealed that the legal process required sacrifices. \u201cI had to make concessions that I didn\u2019t necessarily want to do,\u201d she said. \u201cMy peace of mind is priceless at the end of the day. I really want to start rebuilding and I want to move forward\u2026 that feels really, really good.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Although she signed a prenup, Lindsay admitted the ordeal has shifted her outlook on marriage altogether. \u201cI wouldn\u2019t get married without a prenup,\u201d she said. \u201cBut\u2026 it\u2019s changed my whole perspective on everything. I don\u2019t even know if I would get married again. I can\u2019t even, like, fathom that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She went on to describe the emotional toll of the separation. \u201cWhen someone is fighting and fighting you in this way and willing to die on every hill and not willing to compromise at all\u2026 you have to, at one point, let go and just be the bigger person and prioritize what is most important to you,\u201d she said. \u201cIs it most important to be vengeful? \u2026 Or is it most important to just protect your peace of mind and let go?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Lindsay noted that mentally, she had felt the marriage was over long before the paperwork was done. \u201cIt\u2019s a very weird feeling because from the moment he finally left the house after being here for seven months post-separation, I felt divorced.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Abasolo previously acknowledged the split in an<\/span> Instagram post<\/span><\/a>, writing, \u201cAfter more than 4 years of marriage, Rachel and I have made the difficult decision to part ways and start anew. My parents have been married forever and I\u2019m a family man, but sometimes loving yourself and your partner means you must let go\u2026 Please respect the spaces of our family and friends as we figure out our next steps.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
