Despite Owning Manhattan<\/em> following his real estate brokerage, Ryan Serhant<\/strong> made a surprise admission about not needing for the show to feature onscreen house sales.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything is real [on the show] because everything else is big and everyone has a facade, everyone lies. Nothing is real, I believe nothing,\u201d Serhant, 41, quipped during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cSo it would be a disservice to the world to create another fake reality TV show.\u201d<\/p>\n

Serhant had \u201cliterally zero interest\u201d in manufacturing success.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI was totally fine going into filming if we do no deals. But we tried really hard. Even if all the deals died or fell apart and the company had to file for bankruptcy,\u201d he joked. \u201cThat is the season finale of a show that I would watch. It\u2019d be terrible for my real life but it would be the reality of it. It\u2019s refreshing in a way that I haven\u2019t seen in this format before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Serhant\u2019s history with reality TV allowed him to help make Owning Manhattan stand out as a real estate show that prioritizes unique storytelling.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat made season 1 so special \u2014 and the reason I wanted to do it \u2014 is because I spent 10 years on Million Dollar Listing New York for Bravo. I wanted to make a deal show. People love Shark Tank and like deal shows in the scripted world such as Succession and Gossip Girl. Owning Manhattan is not about the drama. It\u2019s about the deals,\u201d he noted to Us<\/em>. \u201cIt is also about what happens because of the deals \u2014 and they\u2019re real deals.\u201d<\/p>\n
