Melissa Peterman<\/strong><\/a> had a very out-of-the-box character pitch for JoAnna Garcia Swisher<\/strong><\/a> before her former Reba<\/em> costar joined Happy\u2019s Place<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cOne thing that I kind of had pitched to the writers was when we knew we were going to get JoAnna Garcia back,\u201d Peterman, 54, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cI thought that maybe she was a surrogate that Gabby went to but she had been conning me the whole time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Peterman enjoyed the idea of a more antagonistic onscreen relationship<\/a> with Swisher, 46.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe would just take my money and pretend to be pregnant but never did it,\u201d she joked. \u201cSo, that was my one pitch that I thought could be really funny. But in hindsight, what JoAnna had come to do was hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHappy\u2019s Place has enjoyed keeping it in the TV family by casting numerous stars from Reba McEntire\u2018s past sitcom Reba. Reba, which aired from 2001 to 2007, starred McEntire, Melissa Peterman, Christopher Rich, JoAnna Garcia Swisher and Steve Howey. Nearly two decades later, McEntire and Peterman reunited with former Reba executive producer Kevin Abbott on [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

NBC confirmed in September that Swisher is set to play a local Knoxville influencer<\/a> named Kenzie in an upcoming episode. Her character \u201chas been hired to represent Happy\u2019s Place for their upcoming social media marketing campaign and all of it is much to Bobbie\u2019s chagrin,\u201d according to the official character description.<\/p>\n

Swisher is the third Reba<\/em> alum to make an appearance on Reba McEntire<\/strong> and Peterman\u2019s hit sitcom, which debuted more than 17 years after their hit series Reba<\/em> ended its six-year run on The WB. Reba also starred Christopher Rich<\/strong> and Steve Howey<\/strong>, both of whom have made Happy\u2019s Place<\/em> cameos already<\/a>. (Their other Reba costars Scarlett Pomers<\/strong> and Mitch Holleman<\/strong> have yet to appear on the NBC sitcom.)<\/p>\n

Swisher previously hinted exclusively to Us<\/em>\u00a0that she would be joining Happy\u2019s Place<\/em> in the near future.<\/p>\n

\u201cI cannot wait to go shake it up over there with them,\u201d she told Us<\/em> in July. \u201cSteve Howey has already done it, and Chris Rich has done it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actress continued: \u201cThis is my family. We are all so very close, but getting the opportunity to slide back into a sitcom stage with all of them would be so exciting. I would not be surprised if that was in the very near future.\u201d<\/p>\n

McEntire, 70, recently told Us<\/em> that Swisher, who played her daughter on Reba<\/em><\/a>, would \u201cdefinitely\u201d be the next alum to appear on Happy\u2019s Place.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tReba McEntire proved she is more than just a country superstar when she led her own TV show \u2014 appropriately called Reba. The sitcom ran for six seasons from October 2001 to February 2007. McEntire starred as a single mother raising her three children \u2014 played by JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Scarlett Pomers and Mitch Holleman [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cJoAnna is so busy. She\u2019s producing, she\u2019s got three movies and she\u2019s [working on] Sweet Magnolias. So, she is a very busy lady but she said she\u2019d definitely be there,\u201d McEntire shared in May. \u201cMelissa Peterman, JoAnna and Steve Howey have been very busy. To get to bring Steve in already for our Christmas episode and to bring Chris back in \u2014 that was the most special.\u201d<\/p>\n

Happy\u2019s Place<\/em> creator Kevin Abbott<\/strong> was also excited by the prospect<\/a> of bringing Swisher into the fold.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working on that. We really, really want JoAnna to be on the show,\u201d he told Us and other reporters at the NBCUniversal Backlot Summer Experience in August.<\/p>\n
