That\u2019s a little meta, isn\u2019t it.<\/p>\n<p>In the process, Harry took a swipe at Donald Trump while acknowledging his own family\u2019s history with tyranny.<\/p>\n<p>How did the audience take it? Stephen Colbert surprised the December 3 audience with Prince Harry.<span class=\"image-caption-credit\"> (Image Credit: CBS)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-why-was-prince-harry-on-the-late-show-with-stephen-colbert-this-week\">Why was Prince Harry on \u2018The Late Show with Stephen Colbert\u2019 this week?<\/h2>\n<p>On the Wednesday, December 3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=plsvrxGZnyA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">episode of <em>The Late Show with Stephen Colbert<\/em><\/a>, the eponymous host poked fun at the unassailable volume of Hallmark-style Christmas films.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the normal, easy-to-ridicule nature of these cheesy romances, the monologue pointed out an odd trend with this year\u2019s batch of films.<\/p>\n<p>So, <em>so <\/em>many of them seem to feature royalty in some capacity. (George III is both Harry\u2019s 6x great grandfather <em>and <\/em>his 5x great grandfather)<\/p>\n<p>He laid out his career plans: \u201cI\u2019ll record a self-tape, I\u2019ll fly myself to an audition, settle a baseless lawsuit with the White House. All the things you people on TV do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>That is a clear reference to CBS paying a $16 million settlement to Trump prior to the Paramount-Skydance acquisition. Critics have accused this of being a bribe. Hopefully, those who paid it will face legal consequences (under a future presidency).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey, Harry, I didn\u2019t do any of those things,\u201d Colbert reminded him. The settlement was not his doing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe that\u2019s why you\u2019re canceled,\u201d Harry then quipped. Notably, CBS claimed that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/07\/the-late-show-canceled-by-cbs-after-30-seasons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">canceling<\/a> their #1 late night show was financial, but most believe that it was to appease Trump. From Colbert acknowledging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/10\/stephen-colbert-donald-trump-cognitive-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Trump\u2019s obvious cognitive decline<\/a> to highlighting his administration\u2019s various crimes, it\u2019s part of the standard show.<\/p>\n<p>And since Trump\u2019s campaign to silence critics has put multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/08\/jimmy-fallon-contract-renewal-is-he-next-on-the-chopping-block-following-colbert-cancelation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">late night comedians on the chopping block<\/a>, critics have only doubled down. Evil triumphs when good people do nothing, after all.<\/p>\n<p>It is no surprise that the audience booed as if on cue when Prince Harry referred to Trump.
