The Holiday<\/em><\/a> is one of the most beloved Christmas movies of all time \u2014 a true comfort watch. The 2006 classic delivered a dream cast (Kate Winslet<\/strong><\/a>, Cameron Diaz<\/strong><\/a>, Jude Law<\/strong><\/a> and yes, Jack Black<\/strong><\/a>), a cozy storyline, and a home-swap plot that had everyone wondering if they too should spend Christmas in a stranger\u2019s cottage. It truly had everything.<\/p>\n But despite its charm, the ending leaves so many unanswered questions. And if you\u2019re the type of person who needs a little logic to go with your holiday romance, same \u2014 which is why The Holiday is long overdue for a sequel.<\/p>\n The film begins with Iris (Kate), a journalist in London, and Amanda (Cameron), a Hollywood trailer editor, both reeling from breakups. Iris\u2019 situation is especially painful, as the man she\u2019s in love with announces his engagement directly to her face. Meanwhile, Amanda discovers her boyfriend has been cheating. In their heartbreak, both women turn to the internet for an escape and end up on a home-swap site.<\/p>\n They trade lives for the holidays \u2014 Iris goes to Amanda\u2019s sleek Los Angeles home, while Amanda settles into Iris\u2019 fairy-tale cottage in Surrey. And, naturally, love follows. Iris grows close to Miles (Jack Black), a film composer, and Amanda unexpectedly falls for Graham (Jude Law), Iris\u2019 widowed brother.<\/p>\n As the date to return home approaches, things get complicated. Amanda keeps delaying her flight to spend more time with Graham, and the film ends with all four characters celebrating New Year\u2019s Eve together in Graham\u2019s home. It\u2019s sweet \u2014 but it leaves viewers with a dozen questions.<\/p>\n Does Amanda return to Hollywood and her high-powered job? These are not small questions, and the movie gives us zero answers.<\/p>\n So, what have the cast said about a sequel?<\/p>\n Jude Law told E! News that fans would \u201chave to ask\u201d director Nancy Meyers, but when it comes to joining a follow-up himself, he added, \u201cWhy not?\u201d He also joked about where Graham would be now: \u201cI think Graham still has cardigans and glasses, and reads. He\u2019s probably worried sick about the girls, right? [His] daughters will be 28, 29.\u201d<\/p>\n Unfortunately, Meyers herself shut down rumors in 2022, writing on Instagram, \u201cSo many DM\u2019s about this \u2014 sorry but it\u2019s not true. \u2764\ufe0f\u201d<\/p>\n And while she\u2019s previously said she\u2019s done directing feature films, fans aren\u2019t giving up hope. Because after nearly two decades, we\u2019d all like some closure \u2014 and honestly, these characters deserve it as much as we do.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
