All good things must come to an end, even when it comes to TV. Throughout the years, many television stars have suddenly left their roles \u2014 some choosing to leave a famous part<\/a> in the past.<\/p>\n In September 2020, Anna Faris<\/strong> <\/a>announced her she was leaving CBS\u2019 Mom<\/em><\/a> after starring as the lead character on the show for seven seasons.<\/p>\n \u201cThe past seven years on Mom have been some of the most fulfilling and rewarding of my career,\u201d she said in a statement at the time. \u201cI\u2019m so thankful to Chuck [Lorre]<\/strong><\/a>, the writers, and my amazing castmates for creating a truly wonderful work experience. While my journey as Christy has come to an end, allowing me to pursue new opportunities, I\u2019ll be watching next season and rooting for my TV family.\u201d<\/p>\n Faris never revealed the reason for her exit, and while her character was written off, the show suffered; after a few months in, Mom<\/em> announced that season 8 \u2014 the first without Faris \u2014 would be its last.<\/p>\n Nina Dobrev<\/strong><\/a> also shocked fans in 2015, announcing that she would not be returning to The Vampire Diaries<\/em><\/a> after season 6 came to an end. She later explained to Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em> that the plan all along<\/a> was for her to leave after six seasons. \u201cIf anything, the fact that [leaving] terrified me drove me even more,\u201d the Final Girls<\/em> actress said in 2017. \u201cI needed to feel that fear of, \u2018Oh, my God, what if I never get a job again?\u2019 That just made me want to work five times as hard to make sure that didn\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/p>\n Dobrev, like many actors who exit hit shows, ultimately did return<\/a>, appearing in the CW drama\u2019s series finale in March 2017. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to bring this show to an end the way we always intended \u2014 with Nina back to help us say goodbye,\u201d showrunner Julie Plec<\/strong> said at the time.<\/p>\n
