Mika Amonsen<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about the backlash he has faced after taking over the role of Sean Reagan.<\/p>\n The actor was cast as the character in CBS\u2019 Boston Blue<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, taking over the role that was originally played by Andrew Terraciano<\/strong> in Blue Bloods<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. <\/p>\n It has now been weeks that viewers have watched him in the spinoff, and he\u2019s breaking his silence on the online negativity over his recasting. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s been some negativity, for sure,\u201d he told Us Weekly<\/a><\/em>. \u201cBut when I look under those posts that have the negativity, there\u2019s a lot of fans rallying for Sean and people saying that they really enjoyed this character that I\u2019ve created \u2014 or my version of character.\u201d<\/p>\n He adds, \u201cThey\u2019re really enjoying the show and they love where it\u2019s going in terms of Sean and that makes me happy.\u201d<\/p>\n Mika<\/strong> shared that he did feel pressure on taking over the role, but also wanted to respect the performance that Andrew<\/strong> did with the character before him. <\/p>\n \u201cI definitely felt a ton of pressure at first. I felt the pressure to respect an actor before me because I wanted to respect Andrew <\/strong>the best I could,\u201d he said. \u201cThere were even certain visual choices that I made that I wanted to keep in terms of hair styling and certain ways of being [as Sean].\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI really want to maintain Sean as close as I can in the ways that I do it out of respect for this character that everyone loves \u2014 but also the character Andrew<\/strong> built,\u201d Mika<\/strong> added. \u201cWhen I booked the show, it all happened really quickly. It was within about a week\u2019s time and I was really thrown into it quickly. I did binge watch as much as I could and I found doing the later seasons was more helpful. I wanted to get a sense of who Sean was toward the end of the show. I really wanted to get a sense of his character at that point into adulthood and his relationship with Danny.\u201d<\/p>\n He even watched back episodes of Blue Bloods<\/em> and found parts of Andrew<\/strong> that were similar to himself. <\/p>\n \u201cI wanted to respect Andrew<\/strong>\u2019s portrayal of Sean as much as I could \u2014 but also adding something to my own version. The showrunners Brandon Sonnier<\/strong> and Brandon Margolis<\/strong> have been really good at giving me a lot of freedom to explore that new dynamic with Donnie,\u201d he actor said. \u201cWatching Andrew<\/strong>\u2019s performance, I actually noticed a lot of similarities just between us as people, and our energy. It\u2019s quite upbeat. I have a lot more of an upbeat energy myself. So that was a bit comforting. I definitely kept that within myself and didn\u2019t feel like I was obligated to change that part of me \u2014 which was nice \u2014 in terms of making it my own.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re really just exploring what would have been.
