Whether he\u2019s injured or not, Cam Skattebo<\/strong> is nonstop.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a busy month for the New York Giants rookie running back, despite suffering a season-ending ankle injury<\/a> on October 26 during the Giants\u2019 game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.<\/p>\n

His most recent adventure? Serving as honorary captain of the Arizona State University football team during its game against rival Arizona on Friday, November 28, at Sun Devil Stadium.<\/p>\n

In an electric moment before the game, Skattebo \u2013 riding a scooter to protect his injured ankle \u2013 rolled down the ASU field towards the student section, which was cheering him on<\/a> with a deafening roar.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe specific details of New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo\u2019s season-ending injury have been revealed. Skattebo, 23, suffered an open tibia fracture and ruptured deltoid ligament in addition to a right ankle dislocation, according to ESPN.\u00a0 The open fracture means Skattebo\u2019s bone penetrated the skin, meaning he needed emergency surgery. Skattebo was taken to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He was also greeted by several current ASU players as he hyped up the stadium.<\/p>\n

\u201cGreat to see him. Everybody loves \u2018Skat,\u2019 \u201d said ASU head coach Kenny Dillingham<\/strong>. \u201cSkat was a big piece of this team last year. He\u2019s a big piece of Arizona State moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Skattebo played two seasons for the Sun Devils from 2023-2024 before he was selected by the Giants in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft.<\/p>\n

Arizona State announced Skattebo, 23, as the honorary captain<\/a> of the annual Territorial Cup matchup on Wednesday, November 26. It was his first appearance in Tempe as an alum.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t really mentioned it to the guys yet. But he\u2019s fired up, I\u2019m fired up,\u201d Dillingham said after the announcement. \u201cIt\u2019s what college football is supposed to be. You should graduate from the school and have a passion about that place and come back to that place and feel like you\u2019re at home. And for him to be able to come back, he\u2019s going to feel like he\u2019s at home and it\u2019s just awesome.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite a 23-7 loss for the 20th-ranked Sun Devils, it certainly was a warm welcome for Skattebo.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was great, just seeing the impact that \u2018Skat\u2019 has on the community, on the fans, on the whole Sun Devil Nation,\u201d said Sun Devils defensive back Keith Abney II<\/strong>. \u201cIt was great just having him back, having his energy there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s football game wasn\u2019t the first \u2014 and most likely won\u2019t be the last \u2014 major appearance for Skattebo since his injury.<\/p>\n

Known for his electric personality on and off the field, Skattebo has been very active on Twitch, a livestreaming service where he can interact with fans, since his injury. He also made an appearance on WWE Raw at Madison Square Garden on November 17.<\/p>\n

During the WWE match, things got a bit heated between Skattebo, who was sitting ringside, and WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio<\/strong>, when Mysterio approached the rookie running back during the match and some shoving ensued.<\/p>\n

While the crowd at The Garden loved it, not everybody was a fan<\/a>. Jeff Saturday<\/strong>, former Indianapolis Colts player and head coach, was one of a handful of NFL alumni who didn\u2019t think the show was in the best taste.<\/p>\n

Skattebo hails from Rio Linda, California, and was drafted by the New York Giants in the fourth round (105th overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft from Arizona State. Known for his bruising style and fearless attitude, Skattebo [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI think the risk-reward in this situation probably wasn\u2019t well thought-out,\u201d Saturday, 50, said on ESPN\u2019s Get Up<\/em>. \u201cWhether you like it or not, he did get pushed pretty hard.\u201d<\/p>\n
