Is the viral art teacher on TikTok named Matt Taylor<\/strong> actually Kevin James<\/strong><\/a>?<\/p>\n While the 60-year-old King of Queens<\/em> alum has not spoken publicly about it, the TikTok star @thisismatttaylor<\/a> and the actor are almost certainly one in the same.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n Kevin<\/strong> wouldn\u2019t be the first star to create a public persona recently, Riverdale<\/em>\u2018s KJ Apa<\/strong><\/a> is (allegedly) doing the same thing right now with the singer Mr Fantasy<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n But unlike that situation, Kevin<\/strong> doesn\u2019t even appear to be hiding it. He and \u201cMatt Taylor<\/strong>\u201d look identical and speak the same way\u2014not a wig or fake tooth in sight.<\/p>\n Kevin James is playing a character named Matt in a movie called Solo Mio<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n The main theory right now is that the entire account is a stealth marketing campaign dedicated to promoting Kevin<\/strong>\u2018s upcoming film Solo Mio<\/em>, where he is credited on IMDb<\/a> as playing a character named \u201cMatt.\u201d He also co-wrote the script.<\/p>\n \u201cAfter being left at the altar in Rome, Matt goes on his honeymoon alone, discovering Italy\u2019s gorgeous landscape, culture, and people,\u201d is the film\u2019s logline.<\/p>\n Maybe the videos were all filmed well in advance and are just now being slowly released on TikTok. So far, there are 20 videos on the account and they are mostly instructional, revolving around art, inspiration, creativity, and life updates, among other things. They are all uplifting in tone so far.<\/p>\n Several films have created similar campaigns. The one for Spree<\/strong><\/em>, a 2020 horror-comedy film starring Joe Keery<\/strong><\/a>, immediately comes to mind. <\/p>\n The actor and his team created an online presence for his character Kurt Kunkle<\/strong> (@kurtsworld96<\/a>), a rideshare driver obsessed with going viral. Of course, in Kurt<\/strong>\u2018s case, things take a much darker turn.<\/p>\n (Funnily enough, the Stranger Things<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is also the musician DJO<\/strong>, and shares many similarities with Mr. Fantasy<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n People love Matt Taylor<\/strong><\/p>\n If indeed the Matt Taylor<\/strong> TikTok is marketing for Solo Mio<\/em>, it\u2019s pretty smart. Fans are loving the account. It has almost 800k followers and the videos have garnered a cumulative 7.1 million likes. The only account Matt<\/strong> follows is Ed Sheeran<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n Commenters have called him similar to Bob Ross<\/strong> and grown attached to the character, wanting him to stick around even after the film if it\u2019s confirmed to be a marketing stunt. <\/p>\n Some have joked that they don\u2019t mind being \u201cgaslit\u201d because the art teacher is so endearing.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m gonna miss Mr Taylor<\/strong> when he goes back to being Kevin James<\/strong>,\u201d one person commented on a video<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cSo Kevin James<\/strong> pulling a KJ Apa<\/strong>? \ud83e\udd14\u201d said someone else<\/a>, referring to Mr. Fantasy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Either way, people seem to be loving Matt Taylor<\/strong> and are in it for the long haul!<\/p>\n Solo Mio<\/em> will be released in theaters on February 6, 2026.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
