\nThe 33-year-old actor-and-musician recently went viral after photos emerged of him marrying a couple while wearing the Scoops Ahoy uniform his alter ego Steve Harrington donned in season three of the show, and he’s insisted he wasn’t the only one dressed up for the occasion, despite the pictures circulating online suggesting otherwise.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking on The Tonight Show, he said: \u201cAmy Parris, who does costumes for the show, lent me the costume. There\u2019s a dozen costumes.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe wedding was between his friend and Post Animal bandmate Matt Williams and Veronica Capaldi and it was the bride who urged Joe to dress as Steve.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI was on tour earlier this year, and Matt and Veronica, who are in this picture, they\u2019re getting married<\/p>\n
\n\u201cVeronica was like, \u2018I think it\u2019d be great. It\u2019s a costume wedding. It\u2019s Halloween. You should go as [Steve].\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI mean, it looks like I just did this for two random people. These are my friends! There\u2019s a bunch of people in costumes!\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShowing a photo of the entire wedding party, he added: \u201cWe\u2019ve got Wes [Toledo] as the Riddler. Shrek over there.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nDespite the Scoops Ahoy costumes worn by Steve and colleague Robin Buckley (Maya Hawke) being favourites of fans, Joe admitted he had petitioned to get The Duffer Brothers to change his look, having worn the outfit “for a good year of [his] life”.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI kind of had thought, you know, we\u2019re in the action, there\u2019s Russians we\u2019re fighting, we\u2019re in an underground lair and stuff\u2026 shouldn\u2019t I take off the blouse part? Maybe the handkerchief? I could lose the handkerchief.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n \u201cAnd the Duffer Brothers [said], \u2018Oh, no, no, no \u2014 I think you should keep the whole thing. It\u2019s a look. The whole thing is a look.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBut with more than six years having passed since Joe wore the outfit on the show, he admitted it wasn’t quite as comfortable at the wedding.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt was a little tighter this time around, I gotta be honest with you. The shorts didn\u2019t fit quite the same.\u201d<\/p>\n
