Stranger Things<\/em><\/a> fans are worried their favorite characters will be killed off in a season 5 bloodbath \u2014 and now creators Matt<\/strong> and Ross Duffer<\/strong> are weighing in.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve said this before: The show is not Game of Thrones<\/em>,\u201d Matt, 41, told Variety<\/em> after part 1 of the final season<\/a> was released on Wednesday, November 26. \u201cI\u2019m hoping [the finale] surprises people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt specifically addressed the chances<\/a> of an onscreen massacre. \u201cThere\u2019s no Red Wedding, if that\u2019s what you\u2019re asking,\u201d he said in reference to an iconic episode of Game of Thrones that resulted in a multitude of character deaths. \u201cThat would be depressing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The hit Netflix series, which debuted in 2016, focuses on a fictional town where a series of supernatural events take place and cause mystery and mayhem. Over the course of five seasons, Stranger Things has catapulted its cast members \u2014 Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton <\/strong>and Joe Keery<\/strong> \u2014 to stardom. The show also features Winona Ryder <\/strong>and David Harbour<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMillie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo and the rest of the Stranger Things cast have evolved tremendously since the show began in 2016. The once relatively unknown actors burst into the Hollywood industry full speed ahead after the drama\u2019s massive success. \u201cI don\u2019t think Netflix thought it was going to be as huge as it became, [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ahead of the show\u2019s season 4 premiere in 2022, Matt and Ross, 41, announced that they were going to end the series after one more chapter in Hawkins, Indiana.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things,\u201d they detailed in an open letter in February 2022. \u201cAt the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons. It proved too large to tell in four but \u2014 as you\u2019ll see for yourselves \u2014 we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season 4 will be the penultimate season; season 5 will be the last.\u201d<\/p>\n

Later that year, the Duffer Brothers opened up about their vision for the final episodes<\/a> and why the episodes were now released in multiple parts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe original plan was to release it all at once again. But as we began turning over episodes, everyone began to feel the season was too big to be released in one batch \u2014 at nearly 13 hours, it is really more two seasons than one,\u201d they told Variety in May 2022 after Volume 1 dropped the first seven episodes. \u201cEpisode 7 is as big as any season finale we\u2019ve ever had, so it made sense to everyone involved to split the season there. Episode 7 really serves as the end of the second act \u2014 and we feel that our final act had enough meat on the bone to make up Volume 2.\u201d<\/p>\n

The first part ended on a shocking note when Will (Schnapp) channeled surprise powers<\/a> that allowed him to fight against Vecna\u2019s (Jamie Campbell Bower) reign of power.<\/p>\n
