Charlie Heaton became a dad at 20<\/p>\n
The Stranger Things actor was just 20 years old when he and his former Comanechi bandmate Akiko Matsuura welcomed son Archie into the world, and the 31-year-old star admitted having a child made him more responsible and willing to make sacrifices.<\/p>\n
He told Wonderland magazine: \u201cBeing a young father, you have to grow up very fast.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have to also learn ethical priorities, too, and you\u2019ve got to look after somebody. That\u2019s a big thing. You want to give them good experiences and a lot of love and the hard part obviously is distance. But that\u2019s part of the sacrifice.\u201d<\/p>\n
Charlie is now in a relationship with his Stranger Things co-star Natalia Dyer – who plays his character Jonathan Byers’ girlfriend Nancy Wheeler – and he hailed working together a “gift”.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cIt\u2019s been a gift to work with my best friend.<\/p>\n
\nTo be able to have a shared experience with your partner about the anxiety when you don\u2019t get a job \u2013 I know what that feels like, she knows what that feels like. <\/p>\n
\n“You can be there to talk about it, or when you have a s*** day at work, or come away from a scene and you didn\u2019t think it worked. To be able to both understand each other on that level is great.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDuring times of uncertainty, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the Hollywood strikes, Charlie and Natalia sought out two-hand plays that they could perform together to pass the time.<\/p>\n
\nCharlie laughed: \u201cI know it sounds super nerdy.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m making myself sound way more cultured than I am.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhile Stranger Things is about to come to an end with its fifth season, Charlie won’t be upset if any of his future work is overshadowed by his time as Jonathan.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cI never thought I\u2019d be playing Jonathan for 10 years\u2026but there are no regrets. If I\u2019m known just for Jonathan, which I probably will be for the rest of my life, that\u2019s fine. That\u2019s a really nice person to be remembered as.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd his farewells on screen echoed his genuine emotion at saying goodbye to his castmates.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cThere are some scenes in this finale, especially towards the end, where it might be the most honest work I\u2019ve ever had the opportunity to do. I was just looking at [each cast member] being like, I love you. You are here in this one moment. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ll ever have that experience again.\u201d<\/p>\n
