Heated Rivalry<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is coming out this week and the creator is dishing on the book to screen adaptation!<\/p>\n Letterkenny<\/em> and Shoresy<\/em>\u2018s Jacob Tierney<\/strong> created the upcoming series, which he also wrote and directs, based on the novel by Rachel Reid<\/strong>. <\/p>\n Ahead of the show\u2019s debut this Friday (November 28) on Crave in Canada and HBO Max in the US and Australia, Jacob<\/strong> dished on the casting process that led to Connor Storrie<\/strong><\/a> and Hudson Williams<\/strong><\/a> playing the lead characters. <\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThere was a lot of hesitation. A lot of people didn\u2019t want to read for it,\u201d he recalled to Teen Vogue<\/a><\/em> about the casting process. The roles required a certain physique, as well as the need to be comfortable with a lot of nudity and intimacy as there are three sex scenes in every episode. <\/p>\n After making it to the final round, Jacob<\/strong> knew Connor<\/strong> and Hudson<\/strong> were the right fit after they did a chemistry read via Zoom. <\/p>\n \u201cConnor<\/strong> was just so confident and so funny. He had all the slyness I wanted out of Ilya,\u201d Jacob dished. \u201cHudson<\/strong> had all the seriousness I wanted out of Shane. Hudson <\/strong>was also a little more tentative about everything than Connor <\/strong>was.\u201d<\/p>\n Jacob<\/strong> also dished on how the story is told through sex. <\/p>\n \u201cBecause of the way the story is laid out, it takes place over eight years, and these are people who learn about each other through f-cking, so the sex didn\u2019t feel gratuitous,\u201d he shared, with nearly all of the sex scenes from the book making it into the show. \u201cThis is how they communicate: They meet up three times a year and have sex until they hit a point where they\u2019re like, \u2018Oh God, we keep doing this. We must have feelings for each other.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n On the first day of filming, they had to film a \u201cracy Las Vegas hotel room scene,\u201d and Jacob<\/strong> noted what while looking at the dailies, you could hear the actors \u201cjust checking in with other.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201c\u2018You good? You comfortable?\u2019 \u2018You good?
