An infant was found dead Thursday morning behind a building at NYCHA\u2019s Bay View Houses in Canarsie, Brooklyn, according to authorities.<\/span><\/p>\n Police responded just after 11 a.m. to East 102nd Street, between Seaview Avenue and Shore Parkway, where a NYCHA grounds worker discovered the fetus inside a black garbage bag buried beneath a pile of leaves while cleaning the area, according to police sources.<\/span><\/p>\n A spokesperson told <\/span>People<\/span><\/i><\/a>, \u201cUpon arrival, officers were informed that an unidentified male newborn had been found unconscious and unresponsive.\u201d He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n Investigators estimate the fetus was between five and seven months.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI saw the whole crime scene unit. It\u2019s crazy. A lot of people are devastated over here,\u201d said <\/span>eyewitness<\/span><\/a> Erik Roman<\/b> told ABC 7.<\/span><\/p>\n The investigation <\/span>is ongoing<\/span><\/a>, and no additional details were immediately released.<\/span><\/p>\n The city\u2019s medical examiner\u2019s office will officially determine how he died, police said.<\/span><\/p>\n Just last month, another disturbing discovery was made at Manhattan\u2019s Penn Station, where a newborn baby girl was found abandoned.<\/span><\/p>\n Police say officers were called to a stairway leading to the downtown 1, 2 and 3 train platforms after a 911 caller reported an <\/span>infant left alone<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0When officers arrived, they found the baby \u2014 her umbilical cord still attached and wrapped only in a sheet lying on the steps.<\/span><\/p>\n She was conscious and alert, according to <\/span>the NYPD<\/span><\/a>, and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in stable condition.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
