The countdown is on<\/a>! Less than a month before Charity Lawson<\/strong><\/a> is set to start handing out roses, ABC has dropped<\/a> the official list of contestants for season 20 of The Bachelorette.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n Bachelor Nation was introduced to Charity, 27, on Zach Shallcross<\/strong><\/a>\u2019 season 27 of The Bachelor.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cShe knows what she wants. She is so confident, she\u2019s so sweet and, you know, she has a great heart,\u201d Zach, who got engaged to Kaity Biggar<\/strong><\/a> during the March finale, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> of Charity at the Women Tell All<\/em> taping<\/a>. \u201cShe\u2019s someone from the very beginning that \u2014 I don\u2019t know what exactly it was \u2014 but [she] was just trustworthy.\u201d<\/p>\n The former lead referred to his split from the Georgia native as one of his \u201ctoughest decision[s]\u201d on the show.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was such a strong relationship and her family was so funny and welcoming and loving, and when I had to wake up on the morning at the ceremony, I had to make a very difficult decision because the other three women too were all awesome and unique and their families were great in their own way,\u201d Zach said at the time.<\/p>\n Charity, meanwhile, happily accepted the gig to star on season 20 and wrapped filming last month.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen I was told, I had to double-check. I was like, \u2018Are you sure that was my name that was called?\u2019 I could not believe it,\u201d she gushed on The Jennifer Hudson Show<\/em> in May. \u201cI literally did not believe it. I was having all of these emotions. I was excited, I was nervous, and it\u2019s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. To hear my name called, I knew that it would be something incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n Charity called it \u201chuge\u201d that she\u2019s the fourth Black Bachelorette<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThis puts me in the position of being the fourth woman of color to hold this role and the second monoracial African American woman to have the opportunity to find love,\u201d she noted. \u201cI notice and acknowledge that this is so much bigger than myself. It is my journey to love, but it\u2019s bigger than me.\u201d<\/p>\n The child and family therapist went on to detail what she\u2019s looking for in a partner.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are a few traits I definitely know that I need after going through past relationships,\u201d Charity told Jennifer Hudson<\/strong><\/a>. \u201cI need someone who is confident and is sure of what they want, so we\u2019re not playing games. I want someone who is funny. A sense of humor is really important. And I want someone who is authentic. I want someone who is themselves and they don\u2019t feel a need to put on a fa\u00e7ade. I want the true, real you. Those are the top three things, I think!\u201d<\/p>\n Charity\u2019s season of The Bachelorette<\/em> premieres on ABC Monday, June 26, at 9 p.m ET.
