The Neighbourhood<\/strong><\/a> are addressing the return of Brandon Fried<\/strong><\/a> as their drummer.<\/p>\n The band originally fired the 35-year-old musician following sexual assault allegations from The Marias<\/strong><\/a>\u2018 singer Maria Zardoya<\/strong><\/a>, who said he groped her under a table.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n With their comeback this year<\/a> following a hiatus, The Neighbourhood<\/strong> recently spoke out in an interview with Apple\u2019s Zane Lowe<\/strong><\/a> about why he was invited back into the band.<\/p>\n \u201cI think from our perspective, we\u2019ve seen genuine growth and change in the last few years with Brandon<\/strong>,\u201d Zach Abels<\/strong><\/a> said.<\/p>\n Bringing him back wasn\u2019t a snap decision, I think, for us. We definitely knew the type of reaction we were going to receive\u2026.but from our perspective, we\u2019ve seen genuine change. And although that doesn\u2019t excuse anything, we still believe that he deserves a second chance and an opportunity that he\u2019s better.\u201d<\/p>\n Brandon<\/strong> then spoke to the situation himself.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen you hit rock bottom like I did, and something happens like that, there is kind of a crossroads where you\u2019re at a point where you could either keep going deeper and find a deeper bottom, or you can try to climb your way out of it. Luckily through support of friends and family and these guys, I was able to kind of put my head down and just get into the work of bettering myself and showing everyone that I\u2019m not the person that type of event kind of defined me as,\u201d Brandon <\/strong>said.<\/p>\n \u201cBeing back here with the guys and even making the record was such a therapeutic way\u2026for all of us, dealing with this and trying to climb our way out of it and start a new chapter and I feel really really strong about it.\u201d<\/p>\n When prompted to ask what led them to invite Brandon <\/strong>back into the band, Jesse Rutherford<\/strong><\/a> went on to explain: \u201cIt\u2019s challenging and it\u2019s it\u2019s so deep. I grew up without a parent because of alcoholism, and it\u2019s just something that I\u2019ve always really fought against in my life, and really had\u2026beef with, just the whole idea of it. And kind of similar what Zach<\/strong> said, it\u2019s not an excuse, but I do believe it\u2019s a big part of the reason of why everything happened the way it did\u2026it just feels like this whole situation is a thing that we just have to live with.\u201d<\/p>\n \n
