The 44-year-old star has enjoyed a hugely successful music career and Craig admits that his mum, Tina, has always played a part in his achievements.<\/p>\n
Speaking to The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column about his career breakthrough, Craig shared: “For me, it was taking my mum to Top Of The Pops for the first time.<\/p>\n
“It was one of the most amazing experiences because we watched it all these years together. And then all of a sudden, you\u2019re in the crowd watching your son on stage.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m looking at her, she\u2019s looking at me. We\u2019re looking at each other and I\u2019m just like, \u2018Wow\u2019.”<\/p>\n
\nCraig now leans on his mum for advice and feedback.<\/p>\n
\nThe Fill Me In hitmaker also described Tina as his “biggest supporter”.<\/p>\n
\nHe explained: “You want your mum to be honest because she\u2019s the only person who can be that honest.<\/p>\n
\n“It used to be me jotting down lyrics and a melody in my bedroom and then coming in and saying, \u2018How does this sound?\u2019 I always send her my new songs and ask her what she thinks. I know with her that it\u2019ll be the reaction time.<\/p>\n
\n“If it\u2019s quick, like, \u2018Oh my God, that\u2019s the one\u2019, I know it\u2019s good. If she is slower, I\u2019m like, \u2018I know you hate it\u2019. But she is my biggest supporter.”<\/p>\n
\nCraig previously explained that he enjoyed a “warm” childhood. However, the chart-topping star still became a target for bullies during his school years.<\/p>\n
\nHe told the BBC’s Imposter Syndrome: “I remember one time walking down the corridor and one of the older boys, two years above me, just pushed me into the corner and asked me what money I had.<\/p>\n
\n“This started happening regularly, every day in that same corridor, even when teachers were coming down. They would see what was happening and he [the bully] was very quick to put an arm round, big smile – and you would just lean in because you don’t want it to continue but it lodged itself as a trauma.”<\/p>\n
