Andrew Garfield wants to keep his love life private<\/p>\n
The 42-year-old actor – who has been romantically linked to actress Monica Barbaro – has made a concerted effort to keep his love life out of the spotlight.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Vanity Fair magazine, Andrew explained: “It feels like a violation of my inner world, my private world. I thought maybe that would soften at some point, but I\u2019m very surprised to say that it hasn\u2019t.”<\/p>\n
Andrew stars alongside Monica in Artificial, an upcoming biographical comedy drama film directed and co-produced by Luca Guadagnino. The actor plays Sam Altman, the chief executive officer of OpenAI, in the upcoming movie, and Andrew relished making the film, having previously played Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network.<\/p>\n
Andrew explained: “I\u2019ve been very, very gun-shy around other films that deal with the same world. And yet I wanted to dive into the psyche of a guy who wins\u2014because I played the guy who arguably doesn\u2019t win, because he\u2019s too touchy-feely.”<\/p>\n
\nThe new movie has also helped to ease some of Andrew’s fears about the potential impact of AI.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “Whether it is inevitable or not, I don\u2019t know if we\u2019ll ever know, because I think they\u2019re making sure it\u2019s inevitable through that propaganda push. I\u2019m very curious about people who have the self-delusion\u2014maybe self-belief\u2014that they\u2019re the ones that should run the world.”<\/p>\n
\nAndrew starred alongside Florence Pugh in We Live in Time, the romantic drama film, in 2024, and the actor previously admitted that he initially felt “really scared” about working with the actress.<\/p>\n
\nHe told People: “I was really scared. I think we were both really scared and nervous because it takes a while to get to know someone.<\/p>\n
\n“There’s layers there. There’s defences there. <\/p>\n
\n“I am someone, who on first meeting someone, I can be quite shy and quite protective and it takes me a while to really let someone know me. But then, when they’re in, there’s no getting out.”<\/p>\n
