Did you feel that chill? Hell must have frozen over, because Kim Cattrall<\/strong> is reportedly stepping back into the Louboutins of PR maven Samantha Jones. As first reported by Variety<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> Cattrall\u2014who played the feisty and fabulous Samantha Jones on Sex and the City<\/em> for six seasons and two movies\u2014will return for the season two finale of And Just Like That\u2026,<\/em> the Sex and the City<\/em> revival series starring her former costars Kristin Davis,<\/strong> Cynthia Nixon,<\/strong> and Sarah Jessica Parker.<\/strong> Max subsequently confirmed the news<\/a>.<\/p>\n Per Variety,<\/em> Cattrall will appear in a single scene. The trade writes that Cattrall shot her dialogue in New York City on March 22, without having to see or speak to her former costars (or showrunner Michael Patrick King<\/strong>). Her reprisal is reportedly set for the season two finale.\u00a0<\/p>\n Those familiar with behind-the-scenes drama of Sex and the City<\/em> universe are well aware that Cattrall reportedly did not get along with her costars, particularly Parker<\/a>. Cattrall refused to participate in a third Sex and the City<\/em> film<\/a>, reportedly<\/a> killing the project. \u201cI would have preferred for all of us to have some kind of event to warrant a third film. That didn\u2019t happen,\u201d Cattrall told Variety<\/em> in 2022<\/a> of the proposed third film.<\/p>\n More recently, Cattrall says she wasn\u2019t even asked to participate<\/a> in And Just Like That\u2026<\/em>, the series which follows the iconic foursome (minus one) more than 15 years after the end of Sex and the City.<\/em> \u201cIt\u2019s a great wisdom to know when enough is enough,\u201d said Cattrall in the same Variety<\/em><\/a> interview. \u201cI also didn\u2019t want to compromise what the show was to me. The way forward seemed clear.\u201d<\/p>\n Given this fraught history, it\u2019s shocking to hear that Cattrall\u2014who has made it very clear that she does not like to be in a situation for even an hour<\/a> where she\u2019s not enjoying herself\u2014would deign to make an appearance on And Just Like That.<\/em> According to Variety,<\/em> it took Casey Bloys,<\/strong> the chairman and CEO of HBO and Max content, personally approaching Cattrall and asking her to reprise her role to get her to say yes. Along with Cattrall, iconic Sex and the City<\/em> costume designer Patricia Field,<\/strong> who has not been involved with And Just Like That\u2026,<\/em> returned to dress Samantha for her scene.\u00a0<\/p>\n Was it money that ultimately convinced Cattrall to make a cameo on And Just Like That\u2026<\/em>? Was it love (for the enduring and iconic woman that is Samantha Jones)? We may never know. (When asked for comment, Max only pointed VF<\/em> to the New York Post<\/em><\/a> story in which it confirmed that Cattrall will appear on the show.) In any case, it seems that Samantha Jones really will be making her grand return to the Sex and the City<\/em> universe. And honey, that\u2019s something to celebrate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
