I had been in a sitcom already, and I\u2019d done a pilot,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, she says her agent initially advised her against signing on to <em>The View<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe call comes for this job to do <em>The View<\/em> with Barbara Walters. Do you know that my agent told me not to take it,\u201d she added. <\/p>\n<p>The agent, it seems, felt that <em>The View<\/em> didn\u2019t pay enough, but Joy \u201cknew that it would be a smart show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And nearly three decades later, we can\u2019t picture the show without her.
