A mother of four was fatally stabbed in the hallway of her apartment building in New York City\u2019s Harlem neighborhood in the early hours of Monday, November 10.<\/p>\n
Carmen Lopez<\/strong> was found with multiple stab wounds to her torso at around 4:25 a.m. at her apartment building located at 409 West 129th Street. The NYPD confirmed to People<\/a><\/em> that she was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside, where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n Luis Marquez was arrested and charged with murder in connection with Lopez\u2019s death on the morning of Tuesday, November 11, according to the NYPD. It is not currently known if Marquez, 41, had a possible motive for killing Lopez, 47. However, CBS News<\/a><\/em> noted that it\u2019s believed the suspect knew the victim prior to the murder.<\/p>\n CBS News also reported that Lopez was the mother to four young children. According to the outlet, he allegedly showed up to the Bronx hospital with cuts on his hands and he was wearing clothing from the scene before he was taken into custody.<\/p>\n \u201cShe was a great mother and a great human being. She loved our family, and she loved life,\u201d Lopez\u2019s sister, Lucy Lopez<\/strong>, told the New York Daily News<\/a><\/em> about her sister. \u201cWe don\u2019t know how to start over.\u201d<\/p>\n Some of Lopez\u2019s neighbors opened up about seeing the crime scene in their apartment building. \u201cBlood like all over the place, like she was running and blood just dripping and then she stopped right in the middle, which is probably where she collapsed,\u201d one resident told CBS News<\/em>.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, another person described her as \u201cfriendly.\u201d The neighbor continued, \u201cShe\u2019ll say, \u2018Good morning.\u2019 I could help her with her bags and she would accept my help, things like that. She was just nice, a nice person.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s sad, very sad. Holidays are coming up [and she] won\u2019t be able to spend Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year\u2019s with her family,\u201d an additional neighbor said of the situation.<\/p>\n
