Charles Barkley<\/strong><\/a> revealed how he lost more than 60 pounds<\/a> in six months following a doctor-prescribed regimen.<\/p>\n \u201cI started at 352 [pounds] and I\u2019m down to 290,\u201d the 60-year-old former NBA star revealed during an appearance on the Friday, May 26, episode of The Pat McAfee Show<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m starting to feel like a human being, not a fat ass anymore.\u201d<\/p>\n The former Philadelphia 76ers player<\/a> explained that \u201cabout six months ago\u201d he started taking a drug called Mounjaro after seeing his doctor. The shot, which is similar to Ozempic<\/a>, is prescribed alongside diet and exercise to help individuals with type 2 diabetes improve their blood sugar levels.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m working out, I\u2019m taking my shot once a week,\u201d Barkley said<\/a>, noting that the drug has been \u201camazing\u201d and helped jumps start his weight loss journey.<\/p>\n The sports analyst, who is down 62 pounds, joked: \u201cMy doctor told me, she says, \u2018There\u2019s a lot of fat young people. Ain\u2019t a lot of fat old people, they\u2019re all dead.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n That revelation served as inspiration for Barkley, who told listeners that he \u201cgained a lot of weight when I got my new hip.\u201d After his second hip surgery \u2014 he had his first procedure in 2016 and the second two years later<\/a> \u2014 he has since started to focus on getting into shape.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Yo man, I wanna be here.\u2019 I\u2019m gonna get down to 270 [pounds] because man, I wanna be here,\u201d the Alabama native told host Pat McAfee <\/strong>on Friday.<\/p>\n Barkley pointed out that he has been \u201ceating a little bit better\u201d in addition to exercising and taking the prescribed shot weekly.\u00a0 \u201cI have zero idea what it does, I\u2019m not going to lie,\u201d he added with a laugh.<\/p>\n The Space Jam<\/em> star is the latest celebrity to confirm use of a medical drug to help with weight loss.<\/p>\n Real Housewives of New Jersey<\/em>\u2019s Dolores Catania<\/strong><\/a> turned to Mounjaro for a quick fix. \u201cI wasn\u2019t going to come to the [RHONJ<\/em><\/a>] reunion looking any bigger than anyone else, so I got on the bandwagon,\u201d Catania, 52, revealed during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em><\/a> last month.<\/p>\n Several Hollywood A-listers, including Kyle Richards<\/strong><\/a>, have been accused of using a similar drug \u2014 Ozempic \u2014 which signifies to the brain the feeling of satiety<\/a>. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills<\/em><\/a> star, however, shut down the allegations in January.<\/p>\n \u201cI have never tried Ozempic and this is not from plastic surgery,\u201d she replied to one of the Instagram comments<\/a> after her bikini snap at the time caused a stir. \u201cI did have a breast reduction in May. I\u2019m honest about what I do. But if giving plastic surgery the credit makes you feel better then pop off sister \ud83d\ude18.\u201d<\/p>\n While Ozempic has become trendy with the Hollywood elite, the drug was \u201cnever meant to be for people who are near their ideal weight,\u201d Dr. Thomas Su<\/strong> exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> in March. \u201cIt\u2019s not even approved by the FDA for casual weight loss. \u2026 It\u2019s not a good weight loss measure if you\u2019re really planning to keep something off.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
