Back in March, the Trainwreck<\/em> star opened up about her experience with the FDA-approved GLP-1 drug Mounjaro<\/a>, a brand name for tirzepatide, which is prescribed for treating type 2 diabetes, weight loss and obstructive sleep apnea.<\/p>\n\u201cThree years ago, I tried [semaglutide drug] Wegovy,\u201d Schumer said in an Instagram video. \u201cI was puking, I couldn\u2019t handle it. I don\u2019t know if they\u2019ve changed the formula, whatever. But anyway, I went on this telehealth meeting with [virtual care clinic] Midi Health, and it was cheap. I wanted to try it myself \u2019cause I wanted to recommend it to my friends who are nurses and teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThey put me on estrogen and progesterone because I realized I was in perimenopause and my symptoms from being perimenopause have disappeared,\u201d Schumer continued. \u201cMy hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy, I want to get down more, if you know what I mean. I\u2019m talking about sex. So, that\u2019s been great and Mounjaro\u2019s been great.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added of taking Mounjaro, \u201cAnd, look, it\u2019s not covered by insurance unless you have diabetes or, like, severe obesity, which most of the internet thinks I have. But I\u2019m having a really good experience with it and I wanted to keep it real with you about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
Schumer has been candid about her weight struggles in the past, including her experiences with Ozempic, another brand name for semaglutide.<\/p>\n
In a January appearance<\/a> on SiriusXM\u2019s Howard Stern Show,<\/em> she said, \u201cI have this gene, GDF15, which makes you extremely prone to nausea, which is why I was so sick during my pregnancy. So, I tried Ozempic almost three years ago and I was, like, bedridden. I was, like, vomiting \u2014 and then you have no energy. But other people take it and they\u2019re all good. So, God bless them.\u201d<\/p>\nShe added, \u201cI lost 30 pounds so quick. I looked great, but I couldn\u2019t lift my head off the pillow. So, what\u2019s the point?\u201d<\/p>\n
