The Fast Saga<\/em> is supposed to end after the 11th and final movie debuts in 2025 \u2014 or is it?<\/p>\n Vin Diesel<\/strong><\/a>, who has played Dominic Toretto since the franchise debuted in 2001<\/a>, has said that 2023\u2019s Fast X<\/em> is the first of a two-part finale, but he later hinted that two installments could become three. \u201cGoing into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter,\u201d the XXX<\/em> actor told reporters at the Fast X<\/em> premiere<\/a> in May 2023, per Variety<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd after the studio saw this one, they said, \u2018Could you make Fast X<\/em>, the finale, a trilogy?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Michelle Rodriguez<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 who plays Dom\u2019s wife, Letty \u2014 chimed in to add, \u201cIt\u2019s three acts in any story. When red carpet host Naz Perez<\/strong> asked whether the duo\u2019s comments meant that Fast 12<\/em> could become a reality, Diesel replied, \u201cYou\u2019re gonna get me in trouble here.\u201d<\/p>\n Whether The Fast Saga<\/em> concludes with an 11th or 12th movie remains to be seen, but it seems likely that the end is much nearer than it once was. While audiences have stuck with the franchise since The Fast and the Furious<\/em> hit theaters over two decades ago, Dom and his crew of daredevils are quite literally running out of places on Earth to drive.<\/p>\n After visiting Rio de Janeiro, Cuba, Tokyo, London, New York City, Abu Dhabi and Russia over the course of more than 20 years, F9 went where no Fast and Furious car has gone before: space. In the 2021 installment, Tej (Ludacris<\/strong><\/a>) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson<\/a><\/strong>) drove a rocket-propelled Pontiac Fiero into orbit.<\/p>\n The scene left many viewers wondering whether driving a car in space was even possible, but director Justin Lin<\/strong> consulted actual NASA scientists to make sure the mile-high moment was as accurate as could be.<\/p>\n \u201cGoing to space was not something I took for granted or I was very flippant about,\u201d Lin explained to Vulture<\/a><\/em> in June 2021. \u201cIt is something that I did have a lot of conversations about. A lot of conversations. And it went from rocket scientists laughing, going, \u2018What the f\u2013k?\u2019 to us saying, \u2018Well, can this really happen?\u2019 \u2026 This is something that was thought out. If anything \u2014 logistically, scientifically \u2014 it\u2019s one of the most sound action set pieces in our franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n Fast X<\/em><\/a> couldn\u2019t top its predecessor in terms of location, but it did shock fans with the post-credits return<\/a> of Dwayne \u201cThe Rock\u201d Johnson<\/strong><\/a>, who previously quit the franchise after feuding with Diesel<\/a>. If nothing else, Fast 11<\/em> should at least answer the question of how Johnson\u2019s character, Hobbs, got back in the mix.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have such a great cast. We lead with love. We try to create an environment where people can do their best work,\u201d Diesel told Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> of Johnson\u2019s return in May 2023. \u201cThat\u2019s all actors really want, is to feel as though they\u2019re supported to create unique characters. Characters that last forever, and you see that in this franchise.\u201d<\/p>\n
