As fans gear up for the show\u2019s final season, it\u2019s the perfect time to look back at some surprising secrets, production tidbits, and cast confessions that even the biggest fans might\u2019ve missed.<\/p>\n

Created by the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things became an instant cultural phenomenon after premiering in 2016, introducing us to the small town of Hawkins, Indiana \u2014 and a group of kids who accidentally uncover a terrifying alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. Now, nearly a decade later, the series is preparing to wrap up with Season 5 \u2014 but the journey getting here has been just as interesting as what\u2019s happened on-screen.<\/p>\n

The final season will roll out in three parts. Volume 1 drops November 26 on Netflix, featuring four episodes: \u201cThe Crawl\u201d (1h 8m), episode 2 (54m), \u201cThe Turnbow Trap\u201d (1h 6m), and \u201cSorcerer\u201d (1h 23m). Volume 2 premieres Christmas Day, and the finale arrives December 31 at 8 p.m. ET\/5 p.m. PT.<\/p>\n

Set in the fall of 1987, Season 5 finds Hawkins scarred by the Rifts and under military control. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown<\/strong>) is in hiding, while she and her friends search for the missing Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower<\/strong>) \u2014 setting the stage for one final showdown.<\/p>\n

In a Variety<\/em> interview, the Duffer Brothers and their creative team opened up about writing an ending worthy of the show\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe went back over and over and over and over, dozens of times,\u201d said writer Kate Trefry<\/strong>. \u201cThey would start writing it, they\u2019d come back. We\u2019d blow it up, and we\u2019d just rinse and repeat.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Duffers also studied iconic series finales like Six Feet Under, Friday Night Lights<\/em>\u00a0and The Sopranos<\/em> to ensure the finale \u201cfelt true\u201d to their story.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best ones were very true to themselves,\u201d Ross explained. \u201cThe shows that are trying to be super clever\u2014I think that\u2019s where it can go wrong really quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n

Matt added, \u201cWe knew roughly what the end scene was for years \u2026 we\u2019re really happy with the way it ended. It\u2019s nerve-racking to put it out. I\u2019m sure people will have opinions!\u201d<\/p>\n
