Dylan Dreyer<\/b> stopped by <\/span>Today with Jenna & Friends<\/span><\/i> on Wednesday, November 5 \u2014 four months after announcing her separation from husband <\/span>Brian Fichera<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI appreciate everyone\u2019s comments and those who have spoken up about my life, our decisions, and what we\u2019ve decided as a family. Thank you for your opinions on that,\u201d the 44-year-old began before opening up about the details of her divorce.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cEverybody has their reasons for what leads to a separation or divorce,\u201d Dreyer explained. \u201cThat\u2019s another story \u2014 one that probably involves a lot of wine \u2014 but either way, we\u2019ve gotten to this place.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She continued, \u201cThere\u2019s something freeing, I think, for Brian and me. Whatever reasons, whatever broke in a marriage \u2014 you can try to fix it if you can, and ideally you do. But sometimes, you accept that it\u2019s broken and you take a new step forward.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The mom of three<\/span><\/a> went on to share that \u201cthere was something we couldn\u2019t fix\u201d in their marriage. \u201cWe are no longer husband and wife, and all those things that were broken \u2014 I don\u2019t hold them against him because we\u2019ve accepted they\u2019re broken.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re separated,\u201d she added. \u201cSo now we move forward as friends. I\u2019m not mad at the things I used to get mad at because, just like a friend, you give them a little more grace when you\u2019re not married to them. I can be a better friend than a wife.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The couple shares <\/span>three kids together<\/span><\/a>, <\/span>Cal, 8, Ollie, 5, and Rusty, 4. <\/span>Dreyer also opened up about how she and Brian approached the topic of divorce with their children.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe even talked to the kids about it. I asked Calvin, \u2018What do you think a family is?\u2019 And he said, \u2018It\u2019s a group of people that love each other.\u2019 And I said, \u2018That\u2019s exactly what we are. We\u2019ll always be that for you. But Mommy and Daddy work better as friends than as husband and wife.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n She concluded, \u201cHe doesn\u2019t care about a title \u2014 none of them do. They\u2019re surrounded by love every single day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Dreyer also opened up about <\/span>the heartbreak<\/span><\/a> and how she\u2019s been finding her strength through it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve relied on my faith more than anything,\u201d she shared. \u201cThere\u2019s something really comforting about knowing there\u2019s a higher power holding my hand every day.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
