The film is reportedly moving forward with a fresh creative team, and while Universal hasn\u2019t issued an official statement, the buzz intensified when screenwriter <strong>David Coggeshall<\/strong> (<em>The Family Plan, The Deliverance<\/em>) shared the article on X (formerly Twitter) with the cheeky caption: \u201cCat\u2019s out of the bag, I guess :).\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Are Brendan and Rachel Really Returning?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Brendan Fraser<\/strong> and <strong>Rachel Weisz<\/strong>, who played adventurer Rick O\u2019Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn Carnahan, are said to be in early talks to reprise their iconic roles. The duo last appeared together in 2001\u2019s <em>The Mummy Returns<\/em>. Weisz exited the franchise before the third film, which saw Maria Bello step into the role.<\/p>\n<p>Fraser, now fresh off his Oscar win for<em> The Whale,<\/em> has long expressed interest in revisiting his character. \u201cI don\u2019t know how it would work,\u201d he told <em>Variety<\/em> in 2022. \u201cBut I\u2019d be open to it if someone came up with the right conceit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As for Weisz, her return remains a mystery \u2014 particularly since Evelyn was reportedly killed off in <em>The Mummy Returns<\/em>.
