While that\u2019s a long wait, it\u2019s not too surprising \u2014 animated features of this scale take time to craft.<\/p>\n The timing comes on the heels of Netflix\u2019s record-breaking hit adding nearly $6 million to its original $19 million August take, pushing its domestic gross close to $25 million. With over 325 million views, K-Pop Demon Hunters<\/em> is officially Netflix\u2019s most-watched movie ever. It even became the first Netflix film to hit No. 1 at the box office back in late August with a two-day gross of $19 million.<\/p>\n The soundtrack has been just as dominant. After seven nonconsecutive weeks as runner-up, the K-Pop Demon Hunters album topped Billboard\u2019s Top 200 on September 20, went platinum, and saw the hit track \u201cGolden\u201d claim the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 on August 11. The franchise\u2019s popularity has even led Netflix to partner with Mattel and Hasbro as global co-master toy licensees.<\/p>\n Directed by Maggie Kang<\/strong> and Chris Appelhans<\/strong>, the movie follows Rumi (Arden Cho<\/strong>), Mira (May Hong<\/strong>), and Zoey (Ji-young Yoo<\/strong>), young pop stars in Huntr\/X whose family demon-slaying legacy has them hunting demons when they aren\u2019t performing for sold-out arenas.
