When asked whether she \u201chad enough\u201d of her hosting gig, Burke, 52, replied on the Sunday, July 7, episode of the \u201cGetting Grilled With Curtis Stone\u201d podcast, \u201cI probably had enough, but then when you [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Garth, for her part, joked that she also \u201cgot an email\u201d about the special \u2014 which airs November 11 \u2014 that she \u201cpurposely did not read.\u201d<\/p>\n
Burke and Garth were both paired with former pro Derek Hough<\/strong> \u2014 now a judge on the show \u2014 during their respective seasons. Garth landed in fourth place on season 5 in 2007, Hough\u2019s first season, while Burke and Hough took home the mirrorball two seasons later. Burke later hosted the show with Tom Bergeron from seasons 10 through 17.<\/p>\n\u201cI never say no, never closed doors professionally, but I mean, it was eight seasons, and I did everything I needed to do in the ballroom,\u201d Burke continued, adding that she \u201chad so much fun\u201d on DWTS<\/em> even though it was \u201cone of the hardest things I\u2019ve ever done in my entire life.\u201d<\/p>\nThis isn\u2019t the first time Burke has addressed her exit from DWTS<\/em>. She opened up about being let go from the show during a 2024 episode of Getting Grilled With Curtis Stone<\/em><\/a>, revealing that while she was \u201cready to do other things\u201d at the time, it was \u201cdisappointing\u201d to find out she wasn\u2019t being asked back.<\/p>\n\u201cBut I think it\u2019s shocking when there\u2019s a change in our business, just to humanize it, to be honest, to be vulnerable,\u201d she added. \u201cI think it was really disappointing. Burke detailed how she found out she wouldn\u2019t be returning for season 18 on her Modern Mom<\/a> blog shortly after the news broke in 2014.<\/p>\n\u201cThe only shocking thing about it, for me, was the way in which it all went down,\u201d she wrote, claiming she found out \u201cjust weeks\u201d before the premiere. \u201cI would have appreciated a heads-up and the courtesy of communication, but we are not always privileged to get that in the workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n
She also shared how difficult it was to tell her kids, who didn\u2019t understand the difference between being let go and being fired. Then I did my very best to describe to my children the reality of change and the need to maneuver through it with grace.\u201d<\/p>\n
