Are you there, God? It\u2019s him, Bruce. 2003\u2019s Bruce Almighty<\/em> featured an all-star cast \u2014 including Jim Carrey<\/strong><\/a>, Morgan Free<\/strong>m<\/strong>an<\/strong>, Steve Carell<\/strong><\/a> and Jennifer Aniston<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 and memorable scenes that still leave viewers roaring with laughter<\/a> today.<\/p>\n After news anchor Bruce Nolan (Carrey) gets passed over for a promotion at work \u2014 a role that notably goes to Evan Baxter (Carell) \u2014 he\u2019s convinced God (Freeman) has it out for him. In response, God gives Bruce all of his powers, leading to the kind of laugh-out-loud hijinks only a cast of this caliber could pull off.<\/p>\n When speaking about working with Aniston \u2014 who portrayed Bruce\u2019s girlfriend, Grace Connelly \u2014 Carrey gushed over his love for the Friends<\/em> alum<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cShe\u2019s tremendous. We work well off each other because Jennifer is a completely different person than me,\u201d the Liar, Liar<\/em><\/a> actor told BlackFilm.com<\/a> in 2003. \u201cI\u2019m a person who just throws myself out there and does wild stuff and she\u2019s like the center of the wheel. She\u2019s the type of person that can sit there and allow things to come to her. I seek them out and destroy them. It\u2019s a wonderful kind of mix.\u201d<\/p>\n One of the comedy\u2019s most-talked-about scenes is the bit where Bruce \u2014 with the powers of God \u2014 attempts to sabotage Evan\u2019s career by having him speak nothing but gibberish while on camera. The film\u2019s blooper reel shows Catherine Bell<\/strong> <\/a>(who portrayed Evan\u2019s co-anchor) barely able to get through a take without cracking up. The scene shot Carell to superstardom.<\/p>\n The Office<\/em><\/a> alum later revealed that there was a scene so intense it didn\u2019t even make the final cut.<\/p>\n \u201cThe part they cut out is when Jim Carrey makes my nose start to bleed profusely, which they thought [was] too mean of him to do as a character \u2026 and then my head burst into flames,\u201d Carell revealed on The Graham Norton Show<\/em><\/a> in 2020, revealing they ran a \u201creal live\u201d gas line down his back and a coil on his head for the effect. Flames came shooting out.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was the most terrifying thing ever because you could hear them venting the gas line before it happened. I could see the crew in front of me, they all lit up because the flame was so bright,\u201d the Beautiful Boy<\/em> actor recalled, adding that since the film was his big break, he wasn\u2019t going to stop them.<\/p>\n \u201c(It was) my first movie,\u201d he shared. \u201cWhat was I gonna say, \u2018I\u2019m not gonna do it\u2019? \u2018Of course!
