BROWN\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201c8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,\u201d Simpson began the November 1 post. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaking that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of Gods purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2021, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2021\/11\/jessica-simpson-shares-shocking-photo-from-the-day-she-got-sober\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Simpson shared a photo<\/a> that contributed to her decision to quit alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe drinking wasn\u2019t the issue. I was. I didn\u2019t love myself. I didn\u2019t respect my own power. Today I do. I have made nice with the fears and I have accepted the parts of my life that are just sad,\u201d Simpson told followers in November 2021, adding back then:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI own my personal power with soulful courage. I am wildly honest and comfortably open. Today I am driven by faith. Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I\u2019m so happy I chose faith over fear. I didn\u2019t take them trick-or-treating. I didn\u2019t show up for my family. I took the picture and I made the world think that I showed up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One day later?<\/p>\n<p>Simpson started therapy and stopped imbibing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just realized that I had to surrender,\u201d she said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI just want to continue on the path that I\u2019m on, and at this point in my life, now I\u2019m strong enough to deal with anything that comes my way.
