NBA star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander<\/strong> revealed his home was targeted by burglars when he was playing a home game with the Oklahoma City Thunder in late October.<\/p>\n Gilgeous-Alexander, 27, opened up about the experience that happened last week following the Thunder\u2019s Sunday, November 2 victory against the New Orleans Pelicans.<\/p>\n \u201cLong story short, everybody\u2019s safe, and that\u2019s all that really matters in the whole thing,\u201d he said of the break-in at his Oklahoma City-area home, according to NBC News<\/a><\/em>. \u201cEverything else will come and go, but my loved ones are safe, so I\u2019m OK. I\u2019m happy.\u201d<\/p>\n Officers in the small enclave of Nichols Hills responded to a report of a burglary at Gilgeous-Alexander\u2019s home around 7:45 p.m. on October 30, which was when the Thunder was playing a home game against the Washington Wizards.<\/p>\n How to Make Tini\u2019s Viral Mac and Cheese Just In Time for Thanksgiving!<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe suspects fled the area prior to police arrival,\u201d police said in a statement, per NBC News. \u201cWhile no arrests have been made, there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger.\u201d<\/p>\n Police did not reveal if anyone was home at the time of the burglary, while it\u2019s not currently clear if anything was taken from the home.<\/p>\n The break-in at Gilgeous-Alexander\u2019s home was not the first incident in which burglars targeted an athlete\u2019s home in recent years. Back in October 2024, Kansas City Chiefs stars Patrick Mahomes<\/strong> and Travis Kelce<\/strong>\u2019s homes were broken into. Meanwhile, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow<\/strong>\u2019s home was also targeted in December 2024.<\/p>\n In February, federal authorities filed charges against seven men from Chile in connection to the robberies targeting the NFL stars. According to USA Today<\/a><\/em>, the men were believed to be part of an organized South American group and were charged with conspiracy to commit interstate transportation of stolen property.<\/p>\n How to Make Tini\u2019s Viral Mac and Cheese Just In Time for Thanksgiving!<\/a><\/p>\n The case has not yet gone to trial, but they will each face up to 10 years in federal prison if they are convicted.<\/p>\n According to the complaint, the men were accused of stealing more than $2 million in cash and luxury items that included watches and jewelry.<\/p>\n Back in December 2024, the FBI issued a warning to professional sports leagues about the string of burglaries, per USA Today<\/a><\/em>. The FBI explained that athletes\u2019 schedules are very well known due to their highly publicized games, so it\u2019s believed they\u2019re easier targets for home invasions than other celebrities.<\/p>\n Additionally, the FBI said sophisticated burglars do extensive technical and physical surveillance so they are able to get past security systems and efficiently find valuable items in the homes.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
