The Plaza Hotel\u2019s most mischievous resident is officially checking back in! Gilmore Girls<\/em><\/a> and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em> creator Amy Sherman-Palladino<\/strong><\/a> is bringing Eloise back to life in a brand-new live-action movie for Netflix \u2014 and she\u2019s teaming up with none other than Ryan Reynolds<\/strong><\/a> to make it happen.<\/p>\n

When Was It Confirmed?<\/h2>\n

The Eloise<\/em> movie news broke on November 3, 2025, when The Hollywood Reporter<\/em> <\/a>confirmed that Sherman-Palladino will co-write and direct the live-action adaptation, with Reynolds producing and starring in the project. His production company, Maximum Effort, will team up with MRC for the new family adventure.<\/p>\n

According to the outlet, Reynolds will also appear in the movie as an \u201coriginal villainous character.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Eloise<\/em> series, first published in 1955 by Kay Thompson<\/strong> and illustrated by Hilary Knight<\/strong>, has charmed generations of readers with its whimsical tales of a little girl growing up in one of New York\u2019s most glamorous hotels. The books inspired two 2003 made-for-TV movies \u2014 Eloise at the Plaza<\/em> and Eloise at Christmastime<\/em> \u2014 starring Sofia Vassilieva<\/strong> as Eloise and Julie Andrews<\/strong> as her kind-hearted nanny.<\/p>\n

Who\u2019s in the Cast?<\/h2>\n

The film stars newcomer Mae Schenk<\/strong> as Eloise, the spirited six-year-old who lives in the \u201ctippy-top floor\u201d of New York City\u2019s Plaza Hotel with her nanny, pug Weenie, and turtle Skipperdee. No other casting announcements have been made at this time.<\/p>\n

Sherman-Palladino is co-writing the script with Hannah Marks<\/strong> and Linda Woolverton<\/strong>, and production is officially set to begin this month.<\/p>\n

When Does It Come Out?<\/h2>\n

Netflix hasn\u2019t announced a release date yet, but with production starting this month, fans could likely see Eloise make her grand return to The Plaza sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.<\/p>\n
