Alec Baldwin is being sued over the Rust shooting again<\/p>\n
Seth Kenney, who owns PDQ Arm and Prop, LLC, supplied the prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the neo-Western movie in New Mexico in 2021, and he has alleged that the team \u201cconspired\u201d to launch a \u201cscapegoat smear campaign\u201d against him and his company. <\/p>\n
In a complaint filed on October 22 in New Mexico, Kenney accused Baldwin and the producers of “false light, conversion, unjust enrichment, and tortious interference.”<\/p>\n
He is seeking compensation and damages, claiming he’s struggled to find work in the film industry since, but has chosen not to have a legal representative. <\/p>\n
In the document, he claims his \u201cfirearm rental property was in good working order\u201d before the tragedy.<\/p>\n
\nKenney states that he rented out the prop \u201cunder the provisions of strict safety guidelines and practices; and with the understanding that [producers] would observe and comply with local, state, and federal law.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBaldwin was rehearsing a scene when the gun he was holding discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. <\/p>\n
\nHe is adamant that he did not pull the trigger of the gun or know why it contained live ammunition.<\/p>\n
\nThe 67-year-old actor faced an involuntary manslaughter charge, which was thrown out by the judge in 2024. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was convicted in March last year after being found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for loading a live round into Alec\u2019s gun and was handed a 14-month prison sentence. <\/p>\n
\nKenney is not happy and has claimed they \u201cviolated the rental agreement by allowing the loading, illegal concealment, and discharge of a live round of ammunition.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKenney claims he has been left with \u201cegregious financial damage and emotional trauma”, adding that he has faced \u201cruinous financial losses, injury to reputation within the film community and public at large, severe emotional distress, and significant loss of past, present, and future financial income.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nIn an interview with Variety, he said: \u201cIt\u2019s been devastating.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s not a matter of saving face. There\u2019s nothing left to lose. This whole thing has been s***, and I have been the scapegoat.\u201d<\/p>\n
