Amy Poehler<\/a>. <\/p>\nDuring the episode, Kate spoke about leaving New York City after two decades to reconnect with nature, saying: \u201cI belong on the homestead.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kate also reflected on her lifelong fascination with the natural world, describing how it began in childhood. <\/p>\n
She added: \u201cI loved bugs and science and making nature crafts. I remember making little bits of mud and putting them places. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cEvery time we went to a seafood restaurant, I would say, \u2018Mom, can I take the empty clam muscle and lobster shells home with me and put them in the bath tub?\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd after rinsing them of marinara sauce, she would let me put them in the bathtub and I would get in with them and just enjoy that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhen Amy asked about her motivations for living away from the city, Kate admitted her decision was partly rooted in a fear of the future. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI think the reason I\u2019ve done it is that I believe very much that we are doomed.<\/p>\n
\n \u201cMy goal is surviving the apocalypse (for) four days. If I can make it to four, oh mama, I will have achieved something.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Ghostbusters actress described how she now spends her time growing food and woodworking on her property. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cI think it\u2019s in my genes because my grandfather was a woodworker, my father was an architect.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI love the practicality of, you can manipulate this material and then you can spend time in it. How crazy is that?<\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou can sit on it. I love to sit on things, I do\u2026 to say I will sleep on what I did today.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nKate added she has already built her own table but admitted that the result was far from perfect. <\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cWhat you do, just kind of put it up inside the home anyways and I have absolutely decreased the property value of the house with my shoddy work.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nKate also told Amy she intends to add to her growing list of survival skills. <\/p>\n
\nListing plumbing and electrical work as next on her list, she added: \u201cI would like to acquire all of those skills that can make a home function for four days.\u201d<\/p>\n
