FALLON\/AFP via Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-reba-mcentire-had-a-bittersweet-experience-on-the-voice\">Reba McEntire had a bittersweet experience on \u2018The Voice\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>On the Monday, October 27 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pTEBCLCVtb8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">episode of <em>The Voice<\/em><\/a>, Reba McEntire could not help but think of Brandon Blackstock\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n<p>Music is an evocative experience, bringing up emotion and memory \u2014 second only to smell when it comes to dredging up the past.<\/p>\n<p>Reba felt that personally when Team Reba artist Aubrey Nicole sang during the episode.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m Gonna Love You Through It\u201d is a Martina McBride song.<\/p>\n<p>The lyrics follow a couple grappling with a cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Aubrey Nicole Causes Goosebumps on &quot;I&#039;m Gonna Love You Through It&quot; Cover | The Voice Knockouts | NBC\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pTEBCLCVtb8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMartina\u2019s a good friend of mine,\u201d Reba commented after the performance.<\/p>\n<p>She acknowledged: \u201cI lost my oldest son because he did not win with cancer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reba was referring, of course, to stepson Brandon Blackstock. The two only split in 2015, after Brandon had married Kelly Clarkson.<\/p>\n<p>To put this into perspective, Brandon was part of Reba\u2019s life for the entirety of Taylor Swift\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>When she talks about losing him, she\u2019s talking about someone she knew and loved for nearly 40 years.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-theme=\"dark\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Last week, my stepson\/oldest son Brandon Blackstock went home to be with God. His struggle is over and he is in eternal peace in God\u2019s presence. There is no one else like him, and I\u2019m thankful for the time we had together. His legacy and laughter will be carried on through his\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/vIQF6CmFdI\" target=\"_blank\">pic.twitter.com\/vIQF6CmFdI<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Reba McEntire (@reba) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/reba\/status\/1955430747931562437?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">August 13, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In August, it fell to Shelby \u2014 Brandon Blackstock\u2019s half-brother, the son of Reba McEntire with Narvel \u2014 to share the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehollywoodgossip.com\/2025\/08\/reba-mcentire-mourns-the-loss-of-stepson-brandon-blackstock\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">McEntire family\u2019s grief<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWords cannot begin to capture the tremendous loss our family has endured,\u201d Shelby wrote at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a son,\u201d he grimly acknowledged.<\/p>\n<p>The statement concluded: \u201cBrandon Blackstock was an irreplaceable part of our family \u2014 funny, bright, and full of life \u2014 and he will be deeply missed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reba replied to that with a tasteful addition: \u201cVery well said Shelby.
