Hopefully I remain healthy all the way up until one day [when] they\u2019ll give me a call, and I\u2019ll go in for a surgery. From day dot, Alice has been with me pretty much 24\/7,\u201d Sam told <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ok.co.uk\/celebrity-news\/made-chelsea-star-sam-vanderpump-34953816\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OK! <\/a><\/em>magazine at the time.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd over Christmas we went through a bit of an episode together where I got really, really ill. I got an infection due to a genetic disease I\u2019ve got, which led to sepsis and it ended up quite bad. I was in hospital and it was a close call, I could have died,\u201d he continued, addng:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat experience brought us very, very close. I think I walked out of that, looking at Alice and thinking, \u2018This is the girl I want to marry.\u2019 So, my thinking was, \u2018If I\u2019m saying that now, why on earth am I waiting?\u2019\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLife is full of surprises, but this is the best one yet.
