Robbie Williams has revealed his next ambition<\/p>\n
The chart-topping pop singer has revealed that he’d love to work with, and support, the next generation of stars.<\/p>\n
Robbie, 51, told the Heretics podcast: “I want to open a University of Entertainment. I did notice nobody else is doing it.”<\/p>\n
Robbie explained that the idea was partially inspired by his own life experiences.<\/p>\n
He said: “I grew up as a vaudevillian. That\u2019s what I am. I am cabaret.<\/p>\n
\n“I spent all of my youth watching my dad do cabaret and watching all of the acts that he would bring off and on stage \u2014 and how talented and hard-working they were, and how genuinely funny the funny acts were, and how genuinely amazing the vocalists were.”<\/p>\n
\nRobbie – who first found fame as a member of Take That – also reflected on his own route to solo stardom.<\/p>\n
\nThe singer said: “I arrived in 1995, after Take That, I want to be Oasis. I want to be Radiohead. Then, when I opened my mouth and my mind, I came out instead and I\u2019m not cool. And you go, \u2018OK, so what am I? Oh, I\u2019m all of these people that I loved \u2014 Tommy Cooper, The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise.<\/p>\n
\n“The way they made me feel is how I want to make people feel.”<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, Robbie previously insisted that he doesn’t want to be “constantly” reminded of his own success.<\/p>\n
\nThe pop star has given away all of the awards that he’s won during his career, and Robbie admitted that he’s generally very cynical about awards ceremonies in the music industry.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking to Us Weekly, Robbie explained: “I\u2019ve given all of my awards away for two reasons: I don\u2019t want my success to be constantly reaffirmed every day as something that happened in the past, and I also retain great cynicism when it comes to awards and awards ceremonies. <\/p>\n
\n“You don\u2019t get to meet the people that nominate you and figure out whether you want them to tell you if you are good or not. Let me also say I\u2019m very grateful to be invited to the party and I\u2019m a very sensitive person that if you don\u2019t tell me I exist, then I don\u2019t exist. <\/p>\n
\n“So it\u2019s a very interesting conundrum in the industry that I find myself in.”<\/p>\n
