Maksim Chmerkovskiy<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t holding back about a controversial move on Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a>\u2019 current 34th season.<\/p>\n

The former DWTS pro voiced his frustration over the show\u2019s decision to hire Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s backup dancer Jan Ravnik<\/strong><\/a> as a professional partner, questioning the logic behind putting a non-ballroom dancer in such a high-stakes role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing with the Stars<\/em>,\u201d Maks said on the Oct. 24 episode of wife Peta Murgatroyd<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cThe Penthouse With Peta\u201d podcast. \u201cThere\u2019s zero foundation technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I\u2019m getting emotional. It is absurd, and this is unreal how blind we have to be and God forbid say what\u2019s obviously there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maks specifically pointed to Jan and his partner Jen Affleck<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s Oct. 21 performance during Wicked Night as evidence.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had no idea what foxtrot is supposed to look like,\u201d Maks continued. \u201cHow are you going to expect him to teach it and deliver that message in a format that is completely different from even ballroom dancing? We had this criticism weeks ago, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Bro is anybody going to explain it to him?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

While Maks acknowledged that Jan showed flashes of skill in one dance that \u201cdelivered some sort of direction,\u201d he said that progress quickly \u201cwent off the cliff\u201d in subsequent lessons with Jen, star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The 45-year-old stressed that his criticism isn\u2019t personal.<\/p>\n

\u201cJan, whoever he is, I have zero against him whatsoever,\u201d Maks said. \u201cNo way, this was a missed opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fellow DWTS pro Peta Murgatroyd agreed, expressing concern that Jen is at a disadvantage with Jan as her guide.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel bad because she\u2019s not getting taught the basics that she needs,\u201d Peta said. \u201cShe\u2019s not getting taught the base of the dance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Maks emphasized that Jan\u2019s lack of ballroom experience isn\u2019t his fault, echoing Peta\u2019s suspicion that his casting was tied to his work with Taylor Swift on The Eras Tour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey hired him. He\u2019s a Taylor Swift dancer. It\u2019s the obvious reason why he is hired,\u201d Peta said. \u201cApart from that, he\u2019s a lovely guy. He looks great, he obviously is a great dancer. Hiring a non-ballroom dancer to teach ballroom dancing to a celebrity as a job is outrageous.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
