Maks Chmerkovskiy<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t sure first-time Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> pro Jan Ravnik<\/strong><\/a> has what it takes to win the mirrorball trophy.<\/p>\n

During a recent appearance on wife Peta Murgatroyd<\/strong>\u2018s \u201cThe Penthouse With Peta\u201d<\/a> podcast, Chmerkovskiy, 45, weighed in on Ravnik\u2019s performance so far on season 34 with partner Jen Affleck<\/strong> \u2014 and he wasn\u2019t impressed.<\/p>\n

\u201cDancing With the Stars<\/em> is a worldwide phenomenon. \u2026 I\u2019m sorry, Jan has absolutely no business being a pro on Dancing With the Stars<\/em>,\u201d Chmerkovskiy claimed on the Friday, October 24, episode. \u201cThere\u2019s zero foundation technique, quality, understanding of the partnership. Bro, I\u2019m getting emotional. It is absurd, and this is unreal how blind we have to be and God forbid say what\u2019s obviously there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pointing to the pair\u2019s foxtrot during Wicked Night \u2014 which earned them 32 out of 40 points<\/a> from the judges \u2014 Chmerkovskiy argued that Ravnik, 30, had \u201cno idea\u201d what the dance style entailed.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTaylor Swift fans won\u2019t want to miss Halloween Week on Dancing With the Stars \u2014 according to Jen Affleck and Jan Ravnik. The pair previewed their spooky plans during an interview with Us Weekly after their Tuesday, October 21, performance. \u201cIt\u2019s a surprise, just so you know,\u201d teased Affleck, 26. \u201cIt\u2019s for all the Swifties.\u201d [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHow are you going to expect him to teach it and deliver that message in a format that is completely different from even ballroom dancing? We had this criticism weeks ago, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Bro, is anybody going to explain it to him?’\u201d Chmerkovskiy continued.<\/p>\n

Before joining season 34 of the ballroom competition, Ravnik performed alongside Taylor Swift<\/strong><\/a> as one of her backup dancers on The Eras Tour<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Murgatroyd, 39, noted that the performance was \u201cmoody and dramatic,\u201d but she \u201cdid not love the foxtrot elements\u201d that Ravnik included \u201cbecause it just didn\u2019t hit the technique\u201d for her. She did, however, praise the couple\u2019s \u201cbeautiful partnership and partner work\u201d in the routine.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s learning,\u201d Murgatroyd said of Ravnik. \u201cHe\u2019s learning slowly. It\u2019s his first season, we have to give him grace for not understanding foxtrot technique.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chmerkovskiy was not on board with the idea of giving grace. \u201cWe saw one dance that delivered some sort of direction \u2026 and then it [was] just off the cliff,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n

The former DWTS<\/em> pro \u2014 who won the competition once<\/a> in a total of 17 seasons \u2014 insisted he had nothing against Ravnik. \u201cThis was a missed opportunity,\u201d Chmerkovskiy continued. \u201c[It\u2019s a] major disadvantage. [Jen] has no partner. \u2026 It\u2019s not his fault.\u201d<\/p>\n

Murgatroyd pointed out that Ravnik\u2019s history with Swift, 35, is \u201can obvious reason\u201d for why he was cast on the show, \u201capart from that he\u2019s a lovely guy, he looks great, he obviously is a great dancer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHiring a non-ballroom dancer to teach ballroom dancing to a celebrity as a job is outrageous,\u201d she continued. (Murgatroyd won two out of her 15 seasons on DWTS<\/em>.)<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMaks Chmerkovskiy admitted that he was tough on some of his Dancing With the Stars partners because of the show\u2019s financial elements. \u201cThere\u2019s definite ways to influence you to want to do your best and stay on and so I think that somebody like me, for example, that backfires,\u201d Chmerkovskiy, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Chmerkovskiy said that past seasons have featured pros with less ballroom expertise<\/a> who \u201cimmediately integrated\u201d into the process. Murgatroyd argued that the troupe would have been a better place for Ravnik to start his career on the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe should\u2019ve learned, gone to ballroom classes,\u201d she said. \u201cLook, what I would do if I were him \u2014 and I don\u2019t know what he\u2019s doing behind the scenes, let\u2019s be honest. \u2026 But I would do my four hours in the studio, whatever I needed to do, and then I would take [Jen] for another four hours and go elsewhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

Along with his Eras Tour<\/em> background, Ravnik has won multiple titles as a competitive dancer. Earlier this month, Ravnik joked that the DWTS<\/em> judges are spending a little too much time evaluating his choreography<\/a> instead of Affleck\u2019s dancing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re just obsessed with me or something,\u201d he teased to Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively after Disney Night on October 7. \u201cI mean, look, I am new, so I\u2019m gonna take every note that they\u2019re giving to me. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s in a bad way that they\u2019re always saying.\u201d<\/p>\n
