On Sunday, October 26, the fashion and film industries converged on the Paramount Studios backlot for Vogue World: Hollywood. The style spectacular\u2014where major houses like Louis Vuitton and Balmain collaborated with costume designers like Colleen Atwood<\/strong> and Ruth E. Carter<\/strong> on clothing inspired by movies and vice versa\u2014was held to raise money for the Entertainment Community Fund, especially those wardrobe professionals impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires. But it also shone a spotlight on the state of California\u2019s film industry: Paramount Studios is the last operating studio physically located in Hollywood, while many productions have been lured out of the Golden State by tax credits.<\/p>\n And what a bright light it was. Dakota Johnson<\/strong>, Hailey Bieber,<\/strong> and Miley Cyrus<\/strong> sat in the crowd, as did Demi Lovato<\/strong> and Maude Apatow<\/strong>. Nicole Kidman<\/strong> opened the show followed by Kendall Jenner<\/strong>, who strutted down the runway-slash-set designed by Jess Gonchor<\/strong> who worked on Little Women<\/em> and The Devil Wears Prada.<\/em> Anok Yai<\/strong> wore a look inspired by Edward Scissorhands<\/em> while Teyana Taylor<\/strong> had on an outfit from Carter’s The Black Panther<\/em>. To paraphrase one of the most famous lines in history\u2026 they were ready for their closeups. (The makeup by Dame Pat McGarth certainly helped.)<\/p>\n It\u2019s been, and will be, a busy few weeks in Los Angeles. On Saturday, October 18, it felt like every famous living actor attended the Academy Award Gala and the Armani after-party at the Chateau Marmont. Meanwhile on November 2, Gucci will host the LACMA Gala. And Vogue World was smack dab in the middle of it all.<\/p>\n
