The head of Rivian\u2019s \u201cmarketing experiences\u201d team and the lead of the company\u2019s creative studio will now report directly to Scaringe, according to a copy of the email obtained by TechCrunch.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s not clear how many direct reports Scaringe already has \u2014 a spokesperson declined to comment \u2014 though he told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/24201749\/rivian-ceo-rj-scaringe-ev-electric-truck-r1-tesla-model-y-competition-decoder-interview\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Decoder podcast<\/a> last year that it was a \u201clarge number.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cI am writing to share a difficult update,\u201d Scaringe said in the email to Rivian\u2019s staff. \u201cWith the launch of R2 in front of us and the need to profitably scale our business, we have made the very difficult decision to make a number of structural adjustments to our teams. These changes result in a reduction in the size of our team by roughly 4.5%.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scaringe said the \u201cchanging operating backdrop\u201d \u2014 a nod to the loss of the federal EV tax credit, increased tariffs from the Trump administration, and general headwinds against clean energy projects in the U.S. \u2014 forced the company to \u201crethink how we are scaling our go-to-market functions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to Scaringe taking point on Rivian\u2019s marketing and creative divisions, the company is also \u201cstreamlining\u201d the customer experience, according to the email. Scaringe said Rivian is moving its \u201cvehicle operations\u201d team and integrating it with the company\u2019s service division.
