The 45-year-old star plays sex and dating podcast Joanne Williams in the Netflix hit, and she has admitted during the first season she struggled with the vagueness of the scripts and how her alter ego as written, as she tried to get used to the tone of the show.<\/p>\n
She told The Hollywood Reporter: “I pushed back with constant questioning because I didn\u2019t have the same hooks into the emotional math of my character that I\u2019m used to having.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd now I see how much ambiguity there is in real life, and I see what Erin was doing \u2014 but there were times where I\u2019d just roll my eyes at her and be like, \u2018Ugh, you don\u2019t understand.\u2019 “<\/p>\n
The Good Place actress – who stars opposite Adam Brody as rabbi Noah Roklov as their characters form an unexpected relationship – changed her mind once she watched the full series, and saw the reaction from the public.<\/p>\n
\nShe explained: \u201cOnce I saw the show, and to be honest, once I saw people seeing the show, because proof is in the pudding, I was like, \u2018Oh wow, this girl is writing about what happens to your neighbor or your girlfriend’.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo it wasn\u2019t just because of the success of the show that the second season got easier; it was because Erin [Foster, creator] and I finally saw each other.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nFor Erin, Nobody Wants This is her first project as a creator and showrunner, and she admitted while people involved all had their own visions, she was fighting her own corner.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cThere were a lot of different visions. I just kept saying, \u2018Guys, please trust me.\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n
\nKristen insisted the show will put Erin in an elite group with the likes of Tim Burton and Wes Anderson for her own distinct style.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “Now, if you ask me, I\u2019d say, \u2018I believe Erin Foster will become a reference point in TV and film meetings going forward’.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cPeople will say, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s Tim Burton-esque. It\u2019s Wes Anderson-esque. It\u2019s Erin Foster-esque.\u2019 I just wasn\u2019t adept enough in season one to realise it.\u201d<\/p>\n
