The NFL<\/a> isn\u2019t backing down from its Super Bowl<\/a> halftime choice.<\/p>\n

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell<\/strong> made it clear that the league remains fully committed to having Bad Bunny headline next year\u2019s Super Bowl halftime show \u2014 despite backlash from the Trump administration and some conservative critics.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s one of the leading and most popular entertainers in the world. That\u2019s what we try to achieve,\u201d Goodell told reporters on Wednesday, per The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s an important stage for us. It\u2019s an important element to the entertainment value, and it\u2019s carefully thought through. I\u2019m not sure we\u2019ve ever selected an artist where we didn\u2019t have some blowback and criticism. It\u2019s pretty hard to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Puerto Rican superstar, known for hits like \u201cTit\u00ed Me Pregunt\u00f3\u201d and \u201cMoscow Mule,\u201d was announced as the headliner for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show in September \u2014 a decision that immediately generated both excitement and controversy. But Goodell made it clear the league stands behind the choice, emphasizing that Bad Bunny\u2019s global influence and cultural reach make him a perfect fit for the NFL\u2019s biggest stage.<\/p>\n

While the halftime show is set to center on the Grammy-winning artist, Goodell teased that there could still be surprises in store. \u201cThe show will evolve from here,\u201d he said, hinting that additional performers may join Bad Bunny onstage. \u201cI am not saying that there won\u2019t be additional talent that might be involved, but that\u2019s always the way it works.\u201d<\/p>\n

The commissioner pointed to past Super Bowl performances that featured multiple guest stars, such as Usher<\/strong>\u2019s 2024 halftime show with Alicia Keys<\/strong>, Ludacris<\/strong> and Lil Jon<\/strong>, and Kendrick Lamar<\/strong>\u2019s 2023 set with SZA,<\/strong> Serena Williams<\/strong> and Samuel L. Jackson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bad Bunny, 30, previously reacted to the massive honor with pride and gratitude, calling the opportunity \u201cbigger than myself.\u201d \u201cWhat I\u2019m feeling goes beyond myself,\u201d he said in a statement. \u201cIt\u2019s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el Halftime Show del Super Bowl.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the controversy, Goodell expressed confidence that the show will be one for the books. \u201cWe\u2019re confident it\u2019s going to be a good show,\u201d he added. \u201cHe understands the platform that he is on, and I think it\u2019s going to be an exciting and uniting moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
